While there are many beautiful pumpkin farms and festivals in Berlin and the surrounding area, Kürbishof Klaistow is by far the largest in the city and Brandenburg. Just this weekend, the 26th Schöneberg Pumpkin Festival came to an end, with 10,000 colorful pumpkins on display. But if you drive a little way out of the city, you will discover a true orange splendor – up to a hundred thousand pumpkins, artfully constructed into impressive wooden sculptures.
What can you expect at the largest pumpkin exhibition in Berlin/Brandenburg?
The Klaistow asparagus and adventure farm is known for its annual pumpkin exhibition, which is the largest in Berlin and Brandenburg. In keeping with the colorful autumn and Halloween theme, more than 100,000 pumpkins from 500 different varieties are exhibited here from the beginning of September to the beginning of November. This year, the exhibition will run from September 6 to November 9, 2025, and the entire courtyard will be bathed in a glowing sea of orange and gold. The pumpkin show features varieties from all over the world and impresses with its variety of colors and shapes. Varieties include the Futsu Kurokawa from Japan and the Blue Banana from Guatemala, which resembles a banana but is much larger and blue-grey.
Under the motto “Power Women”, you will find Frida Kahlo, Bertha Benz, Pippi Longstocking and other large wooden sculptures among the pumpkin creations. Other highlights include the large pumpkin pyramid, the pumpkin market with over 30 different edible and ornamental pumpkins from regional cultivation and impressive pumpkin carvings, such as those by Daniel Brehmer, who visited the exhibition and made gruesomely beautiful carved pumpkins to match Halloween.
Upcoming events:
As part of the pumpkin exhibition in Klaistow, you can look forward to colorful and varied fun for the whole family until November 2 – with a funfair, chain carousel, twister, duck fishing, ball throwing, lottery booths, Ferris wheel and much more. There’s plenty for young and old to experience and get their money’s worth. There will also be a special Halloween event on Saturday, October 25, starting at 3 pm with a children’s costume disco, followed by a lantern parade at 5:30 pm and an atmospheric bonfire with bread, barbecue and music from 6 pm.
On November 2 at 2 p.m., the traditional pumpkin battle takes place at the end of the pumpkin exhibition. The focus is on cutting open the pumpkins that were previously weighed as part of the pumpkin weighing championship. It is a special moment when the pumpkins are opened and the number of seeds is revealed. And on the last day of the exhibition, November 9, the big family flea market awaits you with around 2,500 meters of jumble sale and numerous stands for children’s clothes, toys and much more.
