The temperatures are dropping and we’re retreating home more and more – but that doesn’t have to be the case! Berlin has a lot to offer in the fall, and when better to enjoy it than at the weekend? After a week full of responsibilities and everyday life, we can breathe a sigh of relief and devote ourselves to all the things that are good for us. So that you can plan your next fall weekend without worrying, we have put together the best activities for you. From relaxing moments to exciting experiences – here are 5 ideas for every taste that will make this time of year a real highlight.
1. off into the countryside: discover the forests

When the colorful leaves rustle under your feet, warm rays of sunshine fall through the trees and the autumn air gives you new energy, there is hardly anything better than an excursion into nature. In and around Berlin you will find numerous wonderful places to do this – in fact, the whole of Germany has some great destinations to offer. At the city’s largest lake, you can stroll through quiet, hidden forest retreats and enjoy autumn nature to the full. For even more panoramic views, take a hike up the Müggelberg – the highest point in Berlin – from where you have an impressive view over the city. The 700-metre-long treetop path in Beelitz, around 43 km from Berlin, offers an even more spectacular view. From the viewing platform, you can marvel at the golden autumn splendor of the forests from Berlin to Fläming.
2. fall discoveries: A day at the pumpkin farm

Pumpkin soup, pumpkin pie or other pumpkin specialties – autumn would only be half as beautiful without its round, orange darlings. To get really fresh pumpkins, it’s worth visiting one of the pumpkin farms in and around Berlin. There you can enjoy the treats straight from the stalls and stretch your legs at the same time. The 26th Schöneberg Pumpkin Festival has just finished, where you can marvel at an impressive selection of 10,000 pumpkins. At the largest pumpkin exhibition in Berlin and Brandenburg at Klaistow Hof, you can even discover 100,000 pumpkins from 500 varieties. There are also fascinating wooden sculptures decorated with countless pumpkins – a true pumpkin paradise for autumn lovers.
3. enjoy a Bavarian-Alpine fall meal in the middle of Berlin

Sit down in a cozy restaurant and enjoy a warm pumpkin soup – Obermaier in Berlin is the perfect place to do so. In the middle of the capital, you can travel directly to the Alps for culinary delights. This Bavarian-Austrian restaurant serves southern German classics such as Wiener schnitzel, goulash, dumplings and crusty roast – ideal dishes for the fall. The high quality of the ingredients, which come from organic regions in Germany, is particularly impressive.
4th kite flying on the Tempelhofer Feld

Tempelhofer Feld is the ideal place to fly kites. The wind can blow unchecked here, so your kites are guaranteed to fly high. Dress warmly, because it can get chilly here. How about a hot chocolate afterwards in the popular Engels Café, which is located right next to the field? This way you can relax at the end of the excursion and enjoy the autumn atmosphere to the full.
5. warm up in Berlin’s most beautiful wellness oases

With so much outdoor activity, it’s easy to get cold – so it’s particularly pleasant to retreat to the city’s wellness oases. Berlin’s saunas offer everything from relaxing women’s hammams to luxurious spas that will make you feel like you’re in Bali. For the ultimate in relaxation, book a massage – there’s a great selection of them in Berlin. Enjoy the absolute feeling of well-being: if it’s still drizzling outside while you’re being pampered inside, the experience will be even more magical.
