In spring, life seems to truly blossom again—and April plays a full part in that. The best part of the year is still ahead of us. While some highlights in and around Berlin have already kicked off, including Brandenburg’s largest tulip market and one of the city’s most traditional folk festivals, the next big events are already in the starting blocks. At Easter, you can look forward to what is arguably the region’s most famous market or discover a Sorbian Easter experience in “Little Venice.” And that’s not all: On April 18 and 19, 2026 , the Tulip Festival will take place in the Dutch Quarter —one of the most popular spring events around Berlin and Potsdam. Every year, it brings a piece of the Netherlands right to Brandenburg.

The Tulip Festival is a traditional spring festival dedicated to Dutch culture . It takes place in the heart of the historic Dutch Quarter, which, with its brick houses, is already one of Potsdam’s most charming settings. The idea behind it is a market and cultural festival centered on tulips, crafts, cuisine, and Dutch traditions.
The Tulip Market takes center stage. Thousands of fresh tulips in every color are on offer here and can be purchased right on the spot. Rare varieties and particularly opulent bouquets are often available as well. Visually, it’s a real highlight, as the flower stands are scattered among the red brick houses, creating a particularly atmospheric ambiance.
Typical Dutch food stands provide the perfect atmosphere. Among other things, they offer poffertjes( small pancakes), stroopwafels, Gouda, and other savory and sweet specialties. The result is a lively mix of street food market and spring festival.

In addition to the market, there is a diverse cultural program featuring live music, street art, traditional costumes, walking acts, and small shows. Some craft demonstrations are also on display. Overall, this makes the event feel more like a small festival than just a market. Numerous stalls offer arts and crafts such as ceramics, jewelry, and home decor. The selection is complemented by spring and gardening items as well as various gift ideas. This makes the festival particularly inviting for strolling and exploring.
The Tulip Festival thrives on its unique setting and atmosphere. The narrow streets and historic houses, combined with the many colors of tulips, decorations, and clothing, create a very visual and spring-like atmosphere. The vibe is relaxed, slightly touristy, and, despite the many visitors, usually pleasantly spread out. Overall, the festival is very Instagram-worthy and feels like a small, lively spring festival.
