Stadtbad RELOADED: BEYOND is the third edition of the immersive art exhibition Stadtbad RELOADED. The first edition and the second, AMBILIGHT, have already attracted 50,000 visitors. In the second edition, AMBILIGHTset new standards with over 63,000 LED lights and generated a great deal of enthusiasm. Now the experience has opened its doors for the third time. With the expanded installation BEYOND, which complements the previous innovation AMBILIGHT and the original exhibition, the current edition becomes an even richer and more intense art experience. Immerse yourself while you still can. The exhibition is only on display until the end of March.
What’s new at “Stadtbad RELOADED: BEYOND”?
While the AMBILIGHT installation (new in the second edition) transforms the former men’s swimming pool into a spectacular color show with more than 63,000 LED lights, the new highlight BEYOND adds a special dimension to the former women’s swimming pool: moving digital artworks fill the ceiling while you lie on mats and enjoy an immersive audiovisual journey. Space-inspired projections unfold over more than 200 m², accompanied by atmospheric film music that allows you to immerse yourself completely in the art. Become one with the art and feel as if you are part of a film or dreaming with your eyes open.
The Hubertusbad Lichtenberg – Berlin’s fascinating lost place
The disused swimming pool in Lichtenberg (Hubertusbad) is considered one of the most creative lost places in the capital and is a must-see for anyone who loves art and abandoned places.
With its expressionist architecture, the former Lichtenberg public swimming pool can be considered a work of art in itself. The 97-year-old building was constructed in 1928 as a municipal public bath. At that time, it was used primarily for hygiene rather than leisure, as many apartments did not yet have their own bathrooms. During the GDR era, it was used for swimming lessons, which further exacerbated existing structural defects.
Since its final closure in 1991, the public bath has been a listed building. Even though the original gender segregation has been abolished, the architecture still shows its traces today: separate stairwells, changing rooms, and swimming pools. The culturally and historically significant public bath, now a fascinating lost place, becomes a stage for digital art with the Stadtbad RELOADED exhibition. Here , history, architecture, art, and the atmosphere of a lost place come together.
And it is precisely this mixture that attracts a wide audience: the balance of nostalgia, tranquility, and impressive effects inspires both young and old, art lovers and people with a passion for lost places. Stadtbad RELOADED makes art tangible in a completely new way. The first two editions were already a huge success – with the expanded installation BEYOND, the exhibition is now gaining even more intensity in its third edition.
