Now that the temperatures are dropping further and further in autumn, there’s nothing better than getting cozy in the warmth, opening a pack of your favorite snacks and watching a great movie. Sure, you can always make yourself super comfortable at home – or at one of the fancy cinemas in town. But there are limitations: At home, there’s no fresh popcorn from the machine and the screen is usually too small; at the movies, there’s no couch or sacred bed. What if we told you that a movie theater in the south of Germany combines all of this? That’s right: the Traumpalast Leonberg in Baden-Württemberg offers visitors both the world’s largest IMAX screen and a theater with beds – for the ultimate in cinema comfort!

The Traumpalast Leonberg
The IMAX auditorium
Leonberg is home to what is probably the most modern movie theater in the country. Even if it is a long way from Berlin – around six hours by car – you can expect a cinema experience here that is unique not only in Germany, but worldwide. This is because the Traumpalast Leonberg is home to the largest IMAX screen in the world – an impressive 39 × 21 meters. Its curved shape creates an image that is so impressive that you can not only see the movie, but actually feel it. Both young and old will be amazed!
The picture quality in the IMAX auditorium is of the highest standard – thanks to state-of-the-art 4K projection and laser technology. Spacious seats with an optimal view and, in some cases, exclusive lounge access in the lounge and premium lounge areas invite you to relax during the movie. But the Traumpalast also impresses with technical excellence beyond the IMAX: all 12 auditoriums are equipped with 3D projection, and the Dolby Atmos sound system provides a room-filling sound experience in 11 of them. In four auditoriums, D-Box Motion Seats – seats that move in line with the action – offer an all-round immersive cinema experience.
The Bed Cinema
The cinema room with double beds ensures absolute comfort! There are 20 high-quality Hülsta beds for two people each – electrically adjustable in the head and foot area so that you can find your perfect position. The beds not only look luxurious, but are also upholstered in fine leather.
A screen over the head area provides additional privacy, so you really feel like you’re enjoying your very own movie. Accessibility is also a top priority: there are elevators to the foyers in both the IMAX auditorium and the Bed Cinema, as well as wheelchair-accessible toilets and disabled parking spaces in the parking garage – everything has been thought of here.

A visit to the Traumpalast Leonberg can be perfectly combined with a varied family outing. Only about an hour away from the cinema, you can travel to the heart of the Middle Ages: Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Historical charm, a picturesque backdrop and living history await you at every turn. It feels like an old medieval movie has come to life – a wonderful contrast to the hustle and bustle of the big city and a destination that will delight you at any time of year.
