Queer bars in Berlin offer visitors drag shows, darkrooms and lots of diversity! We have summarized the most interesting spaces of the LGBTQIA+ scene in the capital for you.
Queer bedrock: Roses in Kreuzberg
With its proximity to the Kotti, it is located in the absolute epicenter of nightlife in Kreuzberg and is appreciated by Berlin natives, newcomers and tourists alike. The Roses scores particularly well in terms of atmosphere: The walls are clad in pink plush and adorned with eccentric décor, creating a complete immersion in the spirit of the bar as soon as you enter. At the same time, it represents a pleasant break in style from the otherwise overly stylish bar scene in Berlin, which you don’t often encounter! If you come by late at night, it’s pretty crowded here, but that’s also part of the experience, as are late nights – or rather early mornings!
📍Oranienstraße187 | Kreuzberg
Center of the LGBTQIA+ scene: Silver Future
Since 2007, the Silverfuture in Neukölln has been a shining light of the queer scene throughout Berlin. The bar in the heart of the nightlife district is known for its outspoken and colorful character with lots of glitter. Here, too, you can expect the usual drinks on the menu, as well as live sessions by artists and FLINTA, comedy, karaoke and drag nights. In short: You’re guaranteed not to get bored drinking here!
📍Weserstraße206 | Neukölln
Marietta Bar
On one of the busiest streets in the Prenzlauer Berg is the Marietta, which stands out in particular for its cozy yet slightly eccentric 60s décor. The interior is dominated by round tables with interesting patterns, cozy armchairs and plenty of lamps that immerse the bar in a nostalgic atmosphere. A visit is rounded off by extremely friendly and competent advice from the staff. This makes it the perfect place to start an evening of debauchery, but good cocktails at fair prices and self-mixed shots definitely invite you to stick around! We also recommend the Wednesday evening, which is dedicated to the LGBTQIA+ scene; it’s best to come before 8pm, it fills up quickly!
📍Stargarder Straße 13 | Prenzlauer Berg
Monster Ronson’s
At Monster Ronson’s Ichiban Karaoke in Friedrichshain you can live out your inner pop star to the full! In addition to a public stage, you can also dance the night away in a more intimate circle of private karaoke boxes! Drag events are also held here, such as the “Pansy’s House of Presents” show and public viewings of RuPaul’s Drag Race episodes.
📍Warschauer Str. 34 | Friedrichshain
Betty F***
It’s easy to walk past Betty if you don’t know what you’re looking for! In the basement of a residential building there is a rather small yet interesting bar, which also impresses with its interior. The color red is very popular here and gives the bar an intense atmosphere. Pop classics and current music await you – the best conditions for a fun evening full of dancing and ecstasy! Attention: It fills up very quickly here, so ideally you should arrive shortly after opening.
Furniture Olfe
In a former furniture store – whose neon sign has never been removed from the building complex – there has been a bar of the same name for years, which is particularly well known in the LGBTQIA+ scene in Kreuzberg! It is located right on Kotti and organizes a Lesbian Night every Tuesday. Thursdays, on the other hand, are traditionally reserved for gays. But it’s also worth a visit on all other evenings, because the music is good and the drinks are cheap! The pieces of furniture mounted on the walls are particularly striking and commemorate the former owners.
📍Reichenberger Str. 177 | Neukölln
The Coven Bar
Right on Hackescher Markt is a modern gay bar with an interesting flair! It is easily recognizable from the outside by the two vines that form an arch right in front of the door. The interior is less naturalistic and more industrial: Dark iron grilles and bars define the scenery together with dominant wall hangings and the projection of a not-so-virgin figure of the Virgin Mary. The drinks here are exceptionally good and are masterfully mixed by the competent team. The interior is not too big, so it is advisable to come here early.
📍Kleine Präsidentenstraße 3 | Mitte
Fucking 3000
Here, the name says it all, which becomes more than clear as soon as you enter the bar. Upstairs you can get drinks at the bar and dance and flirt to music and adult movies . In the lower area, on the other hand, you will find one of the largest darkrooms in Berlin. Everyone is welcome in the bar, but the basement is reserved for people who do not identify as heterosexual.
