Prenzlauer Berg is often said to have the reputation of being a boring organic family district. And of course, Prenzelberg is certainly quieter than its neighboring sibling districts. Besides lots of Brunch options prenzelberg also has a few bars that defiantly defy the boredom cliché.
Oldest in Prenzlauer Berg: X-Bar
The X-Bar can be called a real institution in Prenz’lberg with a clear conscience. It has been here since 1995, making it the oldest bar in the district. In addition to the usual suspects, the menu also includes interesting creations of its own, which are based on high-quality gin, whisky and vodka. There are also specials such as chocolate fountains, bottled cocktails and a drink for particularly brave drinkers: For this, you dice up the ingredients from a list. Sounds potentially dangerous but nevertheless exciting.

Nostalgic atmosphere in the Marietta Café-Bar
Located directly on one of the busiest streets in Pberg, Marietta stands out in particular for its cozy yet slightly eccentric 60s décor. The interior is dominated by round tables with interesting patterns, cozy armchairs and plenty of lamps that immerse the bar in a nostalgic atmosphere. A visit is rounded off by extremely friendly and competent advice from the staff. This makes it the perfect place to start an evening of debauchery, but good cocktails at fair prices and self-mixed shots definitely invite you to stick around!

Pub atmosphere in the Badfish
Just one house next to Marietta you will find one of two locations of the Badfish Bar, whose brother you can find in Friedrichshain. The atmosphere is very reminiscent of a typical neighborhood bar with friendly service, as we know it from New York. Friends of “How I Met Your Mother” or “Friends” will definitely feel at home here! In addition to lots of whisky and craft beer, there are also cocktails here; we particularly recommend the frozen strawberry margarita and the unusual shots with cucumber water!

Lamb or lamb?
… that is the question of all questions in the Lamm Bar! Cocktails are offered in these two variants, one in a tasting size and one as a full-sized drink. What they all have in common are unusual names and recipes that turn a visit into a real taste journey. There is also something for the eye here: The bar has an industrial chic look, the walls are unplastered and the counter is made of cement. This is contrasted by chic Chesterfield sofas and stools with velvet upholstery.

On a Sunday in August
No, this is not the beginning of a fiction novel but the name of a well-known bar in Prenzlauer Berg. Here, too, armchairs and stools from past decades invite you to spend cozy hours with coffee, cake or beer and a cocktail. There are also interesting seating areas in stepped elevations from which you can overlook the entire bar, as well as a fairly large outdoor area. Menu-wise, you can expect all the usual classics in good quality.

Drinks at Helmholzplatz
Höschen is located at one of the central key points in Prenzlauer Berg. Quite inconspicuous from the outside, it’s easy to walk past if you don’t know what you’re looking for. If you stray here in search of drinks or following a recommendation, you will be greeted by a gloomy yet very inviting and cozy atmosphere. The drinks here are a little pricey, but more than live up to their price in any case! The menu includes classic drinks as well as our own creations that will tempt you to try a cocktail!
📍Dunckerstraße 9, 10437 Berlin
Classics in Beckett’s head
The bar, which sees itself as a gentlemen’s club, opened back in 2004. Accordingly, you can only enter here after pressing the bell. The service is extraordinarily courteous, almost atypical for a bar in Berlin! Beckett’s head exclusively serves old-school drinks with recipes from the 1920s and 30s. The interior is upscale yet cozy and is rounded off by heavy red curtains that completely cover the walls of the anteroom. All in all, a very interesting bar that you should definitely visit!

Capital is a shy deer
…or Kapitalist for short, is a bar with an alternative atmosphere. The wooden chairs and tables, which somehow always remind us a little of a classroom, are particularly visually striking. However, the aesthetics are broken up by unplastered walls and a wooden floor that has clearly seen a lot. Drinks are available here at a fair price and with a good price-performance ratio. All in all, a very charming place to start your evening!
