Berlin is one of the most exciting cities in the country – full of things to do that make every weekend unforgettable. Even the subways are soon to become part of the big city beatwith techno DJs. But not every neighborhood vibrates to the same beat Prenzlauer Berg is often associated with the cliché of a sleepy organic family district. Admittedly: Compared to its wild neighbors, things are a little more relaxed here. But if you take a closer look, you will discover plenty of stylish brunch spots as well as really cool bars – and they casually give the boredom image the cold shoulder.
1st Kink
The Kink may be a restaurant – but the cocktails? In a class of their own. In addition to perfectly mixed classics, you’ll also find a menu for adventurous connoisseurs. A hip, urban spot for your next dinner & drinks experience. The interior breaks with the typical Berlin look: instead of industrial chic, you can expect a green refuge that almost makes you forget you’re in the middle of the city. Hanging plants, hand-knotted macramé and soft, natural light give the space a relaxed, almost tropical atmosphere. On warm days, it’s particularly magical outside – the green inner courtyard with its glowing tree lanterns invites you to linger.

3rd Marsha*s
Colorful and chic! The modern, vintage-inspired design makes Marsha*s a popular meeting place in Prenzlauer Berg. Here you can enjoy high-quality drinks ranging from classic cocktails to innovative creations. Friendly staff and unique décor create an atmosphere that makes this the perfect spot to enjoy a few drinks after work.

4th Oldest in Prenzlauer Berg: X-Bar
The X-Bar can be described as a real institution in Prenz’lberg with a clear conscience. It has been here since 1995, making it the oldest bar in the district. In addition to the usual suspects, the menu also includes interesting creations of its own, which are based on high-quality gin, whisky and vodka. There are also specials such as chocolate fountains, bottled cocktails and a drink for particularly brave drinkers: You can mix the ingredients for this drink from a list. Sounds potentially dangerous but still exciting.

5. nostalgic atmosphere in the Marietta Café-Bar
Located directly on one of the busiest streets in Pberg, Marietta stands out with its cozy yet slightly eccentric 60s décor. The interior is dominated by round tables with interesting patterns, cozy armchairs and plenty of lamps that immerse the bar in a nostalgic atmosphere. A visit is rounded off by extremely friendly and competent advice from the staff. This makes it the perfect place to start an evening of debauchery; however, good cocktails at fair prices and homemade shots definitely invite you to stay!
📍Location: Stargarder Straße 13, 10437 Berlin
6. pub atmosphere at Badfish
Just one building next to Marietta you will find one of two locations of the Badfish Bar, whose brother you can find in Friedrichshain. In terms of atmosphere, it is very reminiscent of a typical neighborhood bar with friendly service, as we know it from New York. Friends of “How I Met Your Mother” or “Friends” will definitely feel at home here! In addition to lots of whisky and craft beer, there are also cocktails here; we particularly recommend the frozen strawberry margarita and the unusual shots with cucumber water!

7. lamb or lamb?
… that’s the question of all questions at the Lamm Bar! Cocktails are offered in these two variations, one in a tasting size and one as a full-sized drink. In each case, they have unusual names and recipes in common that turn a visit into a real taste journey. The bar has an industrial chic look, with bare walls and a cement counter. In contrast, there are chic Chesterfield sofas and stools with velvet upholstery.

8. on a Sunday in August
No, this is not the beginning of a fiction novel but the name of a well-known bar in Prenzlauer Berg. Here, too, armchairs and stools from past decades entice you in for a cozy hour with coffee, cake or beer and a cocktail. There are also interesting seats on stepped elevations from which you can overlook the entire bar, as well as a fairly large outdoor area. Menu-wise, you can expect all the usual classics in good quality.

9th Drinks at Helmholzplatz
Höschen is located at one of the central key points in Prenzlauer Berg. Quite inconspicuous from the outside, it’s easy to walk past if you don’t know what you’re looking for. If you stray here looking for drinks or following a recommendation, you will be greeted by a dark yet very inviting and cozy atmosphere. The drinks here are a little pricey, but more than live up to their price! In addition to classic drinks, the menu also includes original creations that will tempt you to try a cocktail!
📍Location: Dunckerstraße 9, 10437 Berlin
10th classic in Beckett’s head
The bar, which sees itself as a gentlemen’s club, opened back in 2004. Accordingly, you only get in after ringing the bell. The service is extraordinarily courteous, almost atypical for a bar in Berlin! Beckett’s Kopf exclusively serves old-school drinks with recipes from the 1920s and 30s. The interior is upscale yet cozy and is rounded off by heavy red curtains that completely cover the walls of the anteroom. All in all, a very interesting bar that you should definitely visit!
📍Location: Pappelallee 64, 10437 Berlin
11. capital is a shy deer
…or Kapitalist for short, is a bar with an alternative atmosphere. The wooden chairs and tables, which somehow always remind you a little of a classroom, are particularly striking. However, the aesthetics are broken up by unplastered walls and a wooden floor that has clearly seen a lot. Drinks here are reasonably priced and good value for money. All in all, a very charming place to start your evening!
