Kreuzberg is without a doubt the place to go out – we don’t need to tell you that! It has the highest density of bars in the entire city, making it difficult to identify the best bars in the district. That’s why we’ve picked out some absolute classics that everyone should have seen, as well as bars that are still fairly new or not overly well-known. By the way, our bar tips are also available for Friedrichshain and Prenzlauer Berg!
Kreuzberg at its best: Roses
Let’s start with one of the absolute veterans that you simply can’t avoid when barhopping: The Roses! With its proximity to Kotti, it is located in the absolute epicenter of nightlife in Kreuzberg and is popular with Berlin natives, newcomers and tourists alike. The Roses scores particularly well in terms of atmosphere: The walls are clad in pink plush and adorned with eccentric décor, creating a complete immersion in the spirit of the bar as soon as you enter. At the same time, it represents a pleasant break in style from the otherwise overly stylish bar scene in Berlin, which you don’t often encounter! If you come by late at night, it’s pretty crowded here, but that’s also part of the experience, as are late nights – or rather early mornings!
📍Oranienstrasse 187, 10999 Berlin
Strangling angel
The same applies here: First come, first served! We recommend grabbing a table early, as the place fills up quickly! If that doesn’t work, it’s always worth waiting in line and watching the bartenders do their masterful work. In purely visual terms, the choking angel looks like a symbolic image for a bar. A glass display case with a number of spirits sits enthroned behind a carved dark wood bar. Before that: Wooden stool. The atmosphere is a little gloomy but still extremely inviting, as the pleasantly mixed audience attests!
📍Dresdener Straße 122, 10999 Berlin
Wine from female winegrowers
Nomi Bar is a new face on the Kreuzberg bar scene in 2022, so it’s still a little under the radar. In addition to an incredibly beautiful atmosphere with a modern yet cozy interior, the Nomi also offers plenty of wine. Each variety is carefully selected by the operators and must always meet two specific criteria: All wines come from the hands of female winemakers and must have soul! In addition to high-quality wines, you can expect both classic and home-made highballs as well as lots of pickled vegetables, olives and good sourdough bread that can be nibbled on the side.
📍Manteuffelstraße 100, 10997 Berlin
Furniture Olfe
In a former furniture store – whose neon signs have never been removed from the building complex – there has been a bar of the same name for years, which is particularly well known in the LGBTQ+ scene in Kreuzberg! It is located right on Kotti and organizes a Lesbian Night every Tuesday. Thursdays, on the other hand, are traditionally reserved for gays. But it’s also worth a visit on all other evenings, because the music is good and the drinks are cheap! The pieces of furniture mounted on the walls are particularly striking and commemorate the former owners.
📍Reichenberger Str. 177, 10999 Berlin
Kreuzberg for larks and owls
The Lerchen und Eulen is your place to go on any day: Coffee, tea and games await you during the day. In the evening, however, the bar transforms into a meeting place for passionate drinkers and more than lives up to its name! Visually, it is charming and slightly playful here; the second-hand furniture is particularly interesting. The early bird definitely catches the worm here, as the bar is very popular and fills up quickly! If you feel like a snack in between, you can quickly find one in the Markthalle 9, right next door.
📍Pücklerstraße 33, 10997 Berlin
Gallant, gallant, gallant!
Looking for a bar with nostalgic charm and good drinks? Then Galander is the right place for you! Everything here has a 1920s look, from retro armchairs to old telephones and antique wallpaper. The drinks are excellent and for good reason: All bartenders are trained in an in-house bar school to guarantee the most consistent drinking experience possible. In addition to the bar in Kreuzberg, there is also a branch in Charlottenburg.
📍Großbeerenstraße 54, 10965 Berlin
Selected spirits at Fahimi
It’s easy to walk past the Fahimi, as the entrance is quite inconspicuous and dingy, hidden between a supermarket and a parking garage in the center of Kreuzberg (NKZ). When you enter, you are greeted by a surprisingly elegant atmosphere that resembles a classic cocktail bar. Impressive chandeliers pose in front of bare walls. A wooden work of art is suspended from the ceiling. Just below is a wooden counter with US diner-style bar stools. The drinks are also really enchanting and definitely invite you to stay!
📍Skalitzer Straße 133, 10999 Berlin
Meta level in the multilayer store
On the first floor of a residential building directly on Kotti, you can enjoy yourself on many levels. For one thing, the drinks and beers on offer here are super cheap. You can then enjoy them on one of the many seating levels in the bar, which make the most of the rather small bar in terms of space. Everything in the store is made of pallets, even the furniture outside. There is also a swing for maximum relaxation, but to be honest you can only enjoy it to the full in the early evening, as the popular bar gets full very quickly!
📍Adalbertstraße 4, 10999 Berlin
