Autumn in Berlin already has many highlights to offer – from the region’s largest pumpkin exhibition to autumnal excursions on a 700-metre-long treetop path and sauna oases to retreat to and relax in. But from tomorrow, it’s time for one of the most famous light festivals in the world: since 2005, the Festival of Lights has been illuminating Berlin’s autumn in a blaze of color – with impressive light installations throughout the city.

Everything about the Festival of Lights 2025
The 21st edition of the Festival of Lights will take place in Berlin from October 8 to November 15. Under this year’s motto “Let’s shine together”, light installations throughout the city will set an example of community, solidarity and cohesion. The productions and creations of light, colors and patterns are intended to touch people, tell stories and move them. Light connects across borders, opens up emotions and appeals to our senses.
Innovative technology is presented and conveys messages that are projected onto the city’s landmarks. The locations that are part of this year’s Festival of Lights include: the TV Tower (3D video mapping show), St. Mary’s Church (side wall and the “Unity” installation), the Konzerthaus (façade with “The Hands of Berlin” production), Berlin Cathedral (hosting the FOL Awards 2025), Tempelhof (THF Tower, façade illuminated, “BERLIN-TEMPELHOF” lettering illuminated; with guided tours etc.) as well as places where you might not expect them. The Festival of Lights In Concert takes place from October 10 to 14 in the Berlin Cathedral, with shows by Chris Bekker, Alle Farben, Monika Kruse and other artists.

The Brandenburg Gate at FOL 2025
Of course, Berlin’s most famous landmark, the Brandenburg Gate, will also be the backdrop for the light installations. Spectacular 3D video mapping shows by outstanding artists and studios will be shown on it. Many people will gather here again to marvel, feel and connect with others. One of this year’s highlights is Estée Lauder, which is setting a shining example against breast cancer: The Brandenburg Gate shines in pink light, uniting people across the disease and motivating social engagement.
In addition, the monument will appear in a zebra pattern on October 11 as part of the cooperation with SEBRACON, which aims to raise awareness of people with rare diseases. The illuminations can be seen every evening during the campaign period, usually from 7 pm to 11 pm, and are accessible free of charge. You can also expect special guided tours, light tours, round trips and boat trips to discover the most beautiful light installations. The aim is to bring people together and promote exchange and communication. The Festival of Lights serves as a platform for exchanging artistic, cultural and social content.
