Let’s be honest: Exhibitions in Berlin are a dime a dozen! In the flood of museums, galleries and exhibition spaces in Berlin’s cultural landscape, however, some excellent exhibitions unfortunately remain under the radar. We have therefore picked out the most interesting picks for the first quarter of 2024 for you!

You Me in the Schinkelpavillon
Naama Tsabar at Hamburger Bahnhof
The Hamburger Bahnhof is presenting the first institutional solo exhibition of installation and performance artist Naama Tsabar in Germany. Her interactive works transcend the boundaries of sculpture, music and architecture. The exhibition includes participatory wall and floor works that can be used by the public as sound-active instruments. In collaboration with female and non-gender conforming musicians from Berlin and New York, a conceived music performance will be created. Tsabar’s transformative art enables active participation and opens up spaces for feminist and queer history.

City pool RELOADED
Explore a 96-year-old decommissioned swimming pool that comes back to life with 150 impressive works of art by international artists on video frames! Another highlight here is the atrium, which immerses the exhibition in two different atmospheres. Art and architecture merge seamlessly here in the intense sunshine. On less sunny days, however, the screens seem to float in the room and create a magical atmosphere!

Nancy Holt: Circles of Light
The exhibition “Circles of Light” at the Gropius Bau presents a comprehensive survey exhibition of the American artist Nancy Holt, known for her groundbreaking works in the Land Art movement. The show presents films, videos, photographs, sculptures and installations from over five decades. Holt reflected on ecological aspects early on and integrated the earth’s rotation, astronomy and time into her art. “Circles of Light” provides insights into Holt’s unique practice of questioning our perception of the environment and our place on earth.

Caspar David Friedrich. Infinite landscapes
To celebrate the birthday of the influential German painter (1774-1840), the Alte Nationalgalerie on Museum Island is dedicating an entire exhibition to him! In “Caspar David Friedrich. Infinite Landscapes”, you can admire the artist’s most famous works from April 19, including “Monk by the Sea”, “Chalk Cliffs on Rügen” and “Moonrise by the Sea”.

Tear test: Art between politics and society
An exhibition at the Neue Nationalgalerie Berlin documents an era of discord somewhere between the post-war mood, the Cold War, social upheaval and the fall of the Berlin Wall. You can expect contributions from the Federal Republic of Germany, the GDR, Western Europe, the USA and the former socialist states.

Unique insights at BODY WORLDS
With over 55 million visitors worldwide, KÖRPERWELTEN is one of the most successful global exhibitions. The exhibition has been touring the globe since 1995 and has now visited over 160 cities in Europe, America, Asia, Oceania and South Africa. The exhibition also has a permanent home in Berlin – right in the TV tower! There is an insight into the anatomy of humans and animals – illustrated with real specimens.
