Architecton
Ein fesselnder Dokumentarfilm, der als „eine eindrucksvolle, persönliche und poetische Reflexion über Architektur und wie das Design und der Bau von Gebäuden aus der antiken Vergangenheit unsere Zerstörung aufdecken“ beschrieben wurde. Kossakovsky präsentiert beeindruckende Aufnahmen von den Tempelruinen im Libanon aus dem Jahr 60 n. Chr. und setzt sie geschickt neben Videos, die die Zerstörung von Städten in der Türkei nach einem Erdbeben Anfang 2023 dokumentieren.

A Traveller’s Needs
In der Hauptrolle der beliebten Filmikone Isabelle Huppert geht es um eine Frau, die Französisch unterrichtet und auf Makkeolli als Trostpflaster angewiesen ist. Ein weiteres ergreifendes und langsames Porträt menschlicher Beziehungen.

Dieser Film spielt in einer Küche am Times Square und ist eine Hommage an die zu oft übersehenen Menschen, die unsere täglichen Mahlzeiten zubereiten und enthüllt ein Geheimnis, das die Produktion zum Stillstand bringt.

Dieser von Martin Scorsese kommentierte Dokumentarfilm zeigt Archivmaterial und feiert die kreative Partnerschaft der einflussreichen Filmemacher Powell und Pressburger.
Small Things Like These
Diese irisch-belgische Produktion, die den Auftakt des Festivals bildet, zeigt Cillian Murphy als hingebungsvollen Vater in einer irischen Kleinstadt, der die Grausamkeiten der Magdalenen-Wäschereien im 19. und 20 schildert. Diese waren Institutionen der katholischen Kirche, die als „Besserungsanstalt“ für Frauen dienten. Der Film machte zudem den Auftakt der diesjährigen Berlinale.

Adam Sandler spielt die Hauptrolle in dieser Netflix-Produktion, einem Science-Fiction-Drama über einen einsamen Astronauten, der mit Hilfe eines außerirdischen Wesens seine gescheiterte Beziehung retten will.
