Berlin’s culinary scene is already diverse and yet continues to evolve. New shops, supermarket branches, and restaurants are opening all the time, and old institutions are making a comeback. There’s plenty to discover in the capital right now: The family-run kebab shop Zagros is opening its second location at Kurfürstendamm 212, on the corner of Uhlandstraße in Berlin-Charlottenburg.

Zagros Gemüsekebap is a family-run kebab shop in Berlin-Kreuzberg. The first shop is located at 100 Skalitzer Straße and was opened in 2023 by the Kurdish Hosseini family . The family had come to Germany from Iran in 2018. They chose the name “Zagros” in reference to the Zagros Mountains, which stretch through, among other places, the Kurdish regions of Iran.
Among those behind the business are father Hossein Hosseini and his son Moghaddam Hosseini. Moghaddam was only 17 years old when the shop opened and had no formal culinary training. He taught himself much about food preparation and running the business, including through YouTube. Together with his parents, he developed the shop into a successful family business.
Zagros is best known for its vegetable kebab with chicken . The menu includes, among other things, juicy chicken, grilled vegetables, fresh salads, and various sauces. The chicken-vegetable kebab, in particular, is considered one of the shop’s most popular dishes. In a review conducted in the spring of 2026, the juicy chicken with a hint of lemon was singled out. The bread is also part of the concept and is baked in the restaurant’s own tandur oven. In addition, the restaurant emphasizes fresh salads and sauces.
In 2026, Zagros is expanding for the first time with a second location. The new location is at Kurfürstendamm 212, on the corner of Uhlandstraße in Berlin-Charlottenburg. There, Zagros is housed in a large corner store that previously housed the seafood restaurant Gosch Sylt. The space stood vacant for about two years before Zagros moved in.
The new location is currently still under renovation. Work is underway inside, while outside, people are already standing in front of the windows asking about the opening. Owner Hossein Hosseini reports that passersby regularly stop by and are looking forward to the new Zagros shop.
With the Kurfürstendamm location, Zagros is also expanding significantly beyond its previous Kreuzberg neighborhood . With the second location, the family hopes to reach new customers rather than opening another shop in the immediate vicinity of the first one. The opening of the second location is still planned for 2026. However, I haven’t found a specific opening date in the latest reports. The new shop on Kurfürstendamm will thus be the second Zagros location in Berlin, following the one on Skalitzer Straße.
