With so many great and unusual Christmas markets in Berlin, we’re starting to lose track. From classic markets that never disappoint to new ideas such as all-you-can-eat or stranger-things Christmas markets. Medieval flair or quirky concepts like a sauna boat – you’ll find it all at Berlin’s Christmas markets. If you can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel with so much choice, we recommend the brightest of all Berlin Christmas markets: the “Wintermarkt Schloßplatz” in front of the palace and in the Schlüterhof of the Humboldt Forum in Berlin-Mitte.

In addition to Christmas arts and crafts and Advent specialties, the Wintermarkt am Schlosspark offers a very special highlight: the festive illumination of the palace façade, which is also known from the popular “Festival of Lights” event – and is in no way inferior to it. New this year is the “Hauptstadt Laser Berlin” laser show, in which light and sound merge to create a unique experience. State-of-the-art technology and perfect music synchronization create magical moments that move and inspire. The laser shows take place every Tuesday and Thursday: at 6 pm in the Schlüterhof and at 8 pm on the outer façade of the Spreeterrassen. Admission is free of charge.
In this historic setting, you will experience a very special atmosphere that will make you feel the anticipation of Christmas. You will also find special gifts for your loved ones – from live arts and crafts such as glass blowing and wood carving to leather goods, cozy winter accessories and much more.

A wide selection of culinary delights awaits you: from flamed salmon, deep-fried potato spirals and lángos to apple rings and classic Feuerzangenbowle with a flambéed cinnamon-sugar hat. Thanks to its central location in the heart of Berlin, the visit can be perfectly integrated into a winter tour: Start at the Christmas market at Alexanderplatz, stroll on towards Rotes Rathaus, stop at the Schlossplatz winter market and finally end the evening at Gendarmenmarkt.
The Christmas market started on November 19 and is open until December 4. The opening hours are daily from 11 am to 10 pm. The Christmas market is located at the Humboldt Forum, Schlossplatz, 10178 Berlin-Mitte. It is easy to get there by taking the U5 to Museum Island, the S-Bahn or U-Bahn to Alexanderplatz or the S-Bahn to Hackescher Markt.
