6th Spreewelten Bad Lübbenau
Imagine a water park where you can swim with real penguins. Sounds crazy? But it really exists – at the Spreewelten! I was there and was totally amazed: Only a thick plexiglass pane separates you from the Humboldt penguins. You can watch them dive, learn more about their lives and even watch them eat. Especially cool: You can really get to know the colony, marvel at their nesting burrows up close – and with a bit of luck, even watch them feed.
But the Spreewelten have much more to offer: You can expect a wave pool, a pleasantly warm thermal pool and lots of interactive slides. My tip: be sure to try out the World Gate – you’ll be caught up in a strong current, really exciting! For the little ones, there’s a safe toddler pool with a direct view of the penguins – a real highlight. There is also a large sunbathing lawn, a water playground and a sports field.
Want to relax? Then be sure to visit the sauna world! Whether it’s an organic, aroma, steam, aerosol or infrared sauna – everyone will find the right retreat here. The sauna village is an experience in itself: each sauna is lovingly designed in themed worlds such as an old bakery, hayloft, living room or storage room. There is also a plunge pool, a shower house, a small library and a brine bath. And if you want to pamper yourself even more: a massage or wellness treatment in the spa is just the thing to recharge your batteries.
If you like, you can simply stay overnight. The hotel right next to the Spreewelten is cozy and ideal for families or couples. You can enjoy regional specialties in the Pinguin restaurant – and round off the day with a fresh beer or drink in the bar of the manor house in the evening – whether with the family, as a couple or with friends – the Spreewelten really is a very special experience that you won’t forget in a hurry!
