Want to cool off on hot summer days and enjoy that real beach vibe ? Then you don’t have to go far at all. From the beach at Orankesee to a thermal spa with a saltwater lake and sandy beach —Berlin and its surrounding area have some special swimming spots to offer. And of course, Berlin’s largest lake wouldn’t be complete without a beach resort: The Friedrichshagen Beach Resort is located right on the shore of Lake Müggelsee in the leafy district of Treptow-Köpenick.
Getting there is easy. Take the S-Bahn line S3 to Friedrichshagen and then transfer to tram 60 or 61. Alternatively, you can also easily reach the beach by bike or car. Parking is available in the surrounding area. Visitors can expect a well-maintained sandy beach with gently sloping water, which is particularly well-suited for families with children. At the same time, the beach offers ideal conditions for swimming, sunbathing, and relaxing. A special highlight is the diving tower, from which the brave can jump directly into Lake Müggelsee.
Sports enthusiasts will also find plenty to enjoy here. In addition to beach volleyball, free table tennis, and beach basketball , visitors can rent stand-up paddleboards right on site or take a SUP tour across Lake Müggelsee. In the summer, there are also regular recreational activities and events. A snack bar and a lakeside bar in the summer garden provide refreshments. They offer ice cream, drinks, and light snacks—perfect for a pick-me-up after swimming or a time on the water.
Many visitors praise the well-maintained facility with its clean sandy beach, tidy changing rooms, and clean restrooms. Even on warm weekends, the lake resort is often perceived as quieter and more relaxed than many other swimming spots in Berlin, although it can naturally get more crowded on particularly hot vacation days. During the swimming season, lifeguards provide additional safety, making the lake resort particularly well-suited for families.
Unlike the freely accessible swimming spots on Lake Müggelsee, the Friedrichshagen Seebad charges an admission fee. In 2026, admission for adults costs 6 euros Monday through Friday and 8 euros on weekends. Reduced-rate tickets cost 5 and 7 euros, respectively. Family tickets are also available, as well as discounted after-work tickets starting at 5 p.m. The Friedrichshagen Beach Resort is open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. during the summer season, from May through the end of August. When the weather is nice, the summer garden and the beach bar often stay open until 9 p.m.
