Whether it’s a Berlin pop-architecture icon or a former Quelle department store —the city knows better than almost any other how to transform historic sites into modern culinary hotspots. From London-style food halls to traditional market halls, Berlin now offers the perfect concept for nearly every taste. But that’s far from the end of the capital’s exciting dining destinations. Many Berliners likely regretted the closure of the legendary Rogacki in Charlottenburg —after all, the traditional delicatessen was considered an institution of Berlin’s culinary culture for nearly a century. Now, however, there is good news: For its 100th anniversary in 2028, Rogacki is set to return with a completely new flagship store at a new location .

For nearly 100 years, Rogacki was one of Berlin’s most famous delicatessens. Following the death of longtime owner Dietmar Rogacki in May 2025 and the subsequent bankruptcy, the time-honored brand initially seemedto be on the brink of extinction. But now there are concrete plans for a comeback. Berlin entrepreneur Daniel-Jan Girl has acquired the trademark rights as well as the traditional Rogacki recipes and founded Rogacki Deutschland Holding for this purpose. The goal is to reposition the iconic Berlin brand and open a new flagship store by its 100th anniversary in 2028.
It is already certain that the new flagship store will not return to its historic location on Wilmersdorfer Straße. The property is currently in foreclosure and facing a forced auction, and is therefore no longer an option. Instead, the company is looking for a new location in the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district to maintain the connection to the brand’s traditional home district. A specific location has not yet been announced.
The project is set to be much more than just the reopening of a classic delicatessen. The new group of owners plans to bring Rogacki back into everyday life in Berlin even before 2028. Plans includeselect products available in retail stores and online, new culinary concepts at various locations throughout the city, as well as other formats designed to connect the brand’s historical heritage with modern Berlin.

In addition, the company is working on a Rogacki cookbook in which well-known personalities will present and recreate traditional recipes. At the same time, the brand’s first products are set to become available again, so that Berliners won’t have to wait until the opening of the new flagship store to enjoy Rogacki specialties.
According to the new owners, the future flagship store will preserve the brand’s history while also evolving it in a contemporary way. The result will not simply be a copy of the old Rogacki, but a reinterpreted delicatessen and culinary concept designed to blend tradition with modern Berlin food culture.
If the project is implemented as planned, Berlin could see not only the return of a traditional delicatessen brand in 2028, but also the emergence of a new culinary landmark that builds on nearly 100 years of Berlin’s culinary history.
