Prices are seven percent higher than last year and even 15 percent higher than in 2023. Last year, a cup of mulled wine at the Gedächtniskirche cost six to seven euros. The price increase is due to higher energy prices, rising stall fees and increased staff costs. However, it is noticeable that prices remain significantly lower at new or less established Christmas markets. At the “Berliner Wintertraum” in Treptow-Köpenick, you can buy mulled wine for around four euros. The same price can be found at the “Christmas Market of 100 Stars” at Friedrichstraße station. At the “Lichtenberger Winterzeit” on Landsberger Allee, mulled wine costs just 50 cents more. Markets such as the Christmas market at Charlottenburg Palace, the “Winterwelt” at Potsdamer Platz and the “Winterfilmfest im Nikolaiviertel” are in the midfield – here you pay around five euros. At the “Christmas Magic” at Gendarmenmarkt, prices vary between five and 5.50 euros.
In general, it can be said that prices have risen in all major German cities and especially at popular tourist markets this year – but nowhere is mulled wine as expensive as in Berlin. In contrast, things remain more stable in the east: In Zwönitz and Annaberg-Buchholz in the Ore Mountains, you can still get mulled wine for 3.00 and 3.50 euros respectively.
