A historic site is being transformed into a digital experience space. After standing vacant for a long time, the historic bathhouse at the Beelitz Sanatorium is awakening from its slumber. Starting in September, the site will become the home of NEBULA, Brandenburg’s new hotspot for contemporary media art. Where light therapy once took place, spectacular projections, soundscapes, and light installations are blurring the boundaries between architecture and digital art.
Behind this vision is the internationally renowned artist collective XENORAMA from Potsdam. Since 2020, the creators have been carefully preparing the historic building for its new purpose. The result is simply impressive: with approximately 960 square meters of projection surface spread across ten rooms, the largest permanently active media art installation in the entire region is taking shape here.
The Present Meets History: A Fusion of the Senses
What makes NEBULA so special is the symbiotic connection between the past and cutting-edge technology. The high-end media technology has been meticulously and precisely integrated into the historic structure without detracting from its charm. An absolute highlight is the building’s striking dome, which serves as the central screen and transports visitors into entirely new visual worlds.
Digital art here is no longer limited to flat screens. Through light, code, and surround sound, it becomes a tangible, immersive experience. The works deliberately interact with the structure of the historic building, visually expanding it and inviting visitors to immerse themselves in the experience.
Opening Date and Ticket Sales
In the future, NEBULA will serve not only as an exhibition space but also as a versatile platform for live concerts, B2B events, and cultural gatherings. For art enthusiasts, architecture fans, and day-trippers alike, the project marks a true highlight on the 2026 festival calendar.
Regular public access begins on September 5, 2026, immediately following the official opening on September 3.
