Berlin’s club culture is unique in the world. Renowned clubs such as Berghain, KitKat, Sisyphos, Wilde Renate or ://about blank – and the list goes on and on – ensure unforgettable nights every weekend. But techno in Berlin is no longer confined to closed rooms: It can be heard in iconic locations such as a former NSA listening station, and there are already plans for new beats even in subway stations. The city’s electronic scene is constantly reinventing itself and keeps surprising us with fresh concepts – including the project by the Khisdapaze collective, which, together with Clubcommission Berlin, will provide new music, markets and club operations at Tegel Airport from spring 2026.

The concept envisages partially converting the site of the former Tegel Airport (TXL) into a new cultural location. The Khisdapaze collective is taking over a space in the former catering building and the airport’s old freight canteen. For the project, they have teamed up with Clubcommission Berlin to launch a diverse program of culture, markets and permanent club operations from spring 2026.
It will not only be about music and club nights, but also about cultural and social projects. The first open-air party took place on 27 September – with live music, DJ sets, a humorous stage program, vegetarian food stalls, drinks, chill-out areas and much more. The takeover of TXL has thus already begun this year and is to be further expanded next year with a permanent club operation. And the concept is a perfect fit for Berlin: a large industrial or infrastructural space is being transformed – just as many of the city’s best-known techno clubs have already done. Places that were previously intended for anything but nightlife have become centers of club culture. For example, the city’s most famous club, which was transformed from a former thermal power station into a techno cathedral.
The project in Tegel therefore has enormous potential in a capital city that lives for its raw, urban aesthetic. With the new concept at Tegel Airport, nightlife is merging with daytime and temporary use formats – and this is precisely what makes the location so exciting. Will TXL become the new place-to-be for techno fans from next year? It remains exciting and, as always, we will keep you up to date!
