Easter bonfires, egg painting, market stalls— it all sounds familiar at Easter time and is simply part of the tradition. The only question is: Does it have to be the same old program every year? How about a change of pace over the long weekend from April 3 to 6? We have a few special ideas for you: If you want to go beyond Brandenburg’s largest Easter market or a big Easter bonfire on the beach, an exciting Sorbian Easter experience awaits you in the Spreewald, where you can discover centuries-old customs of a Slavic culture. Things get even more spectacular at the Easter Knights’ Festival at the Spandau Citadel, one of the largest and most visually impressive Easter events in Berlin—a true medieval spectacle featuring tournaments, shows, and a market.

The event takes place from April 4 to 6, 2026—that is, from Easter Saturday to Easter Monday—at the Spandau Citadel. You can visit the festival daily between 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Admission isapproximately 14 to 15 euros for adults, 11 to 12 euros for seniors and students, and 7 to 8 euros for children. Children under five years of age are admitted free of charge. It’s important to note that the event spans three days , making it significantly larger and more extensive than many other Easter events in Berlin.
The Easter Knights’ Festival is not a traditional Easter market, but a complete medieval experience with numerous activities. During the jousting tournaments and battles, you can witness grand horseback tournaments several times a day. The experience is complemented by staged battles with swords, axes, and maces, as well as short stories about castles, knights, and battles that bring the action to life. The entertainment program is also diverse: jugglers, acrobats, and impressive fire shows await you. Especially in the evening, mystical equestrian spectacles often provide highlights. The experience is rounded out by live music featuring Celtic and medieval sounds.

The medieval market is a central part of the event. Here you’ll find numerous vendors and artisans offering jewelry, leather goods, and clothing. There are also taverns serving mead, beer, and rustic food. The market atmosphere feels particularly authentic thanks to the real fortress setting. Additionally, there are many hands-on activities and attractions, including archery, crossbow shooting, historical games, and small carousels. Large interactive areas ensure that the event remains exciting for children and families as well.
Spandau Citadel is a historic Renaissance fortress and, with its courtyards, walls, and the famous Julius Tower, offers a particularly authentic castle atmosphere. It is precisely this setting that makes the Knights’ Festival so special, as it makes the event feel much more immersive than a typical market. Often, admission to parts of the exhibition or the grounds is even included in the ticket price.
