Skiing in Berlin? Even though our capital city offers a range of special winter activities, skiing is probably not one of the typical sports in the surrounding area. There are many well-known hills in Berlin, such as the Teufelsberg or the Ahrensfelder Berge, and Brandenburg is characterized by beautiful lakes and forest landscapes. However, the search for real mountains is largely in vain. But there is actually a ski area here: the Diehloer Berge.
They are even considered to be the northernmost ski area in Germany (on a natural snow basis). The winter sports area lies at an altitude of 77 to 109 meters. Not much, but a rarity by Brandenburg standards. Only about 90 minutes out of the metropolis and you end up in a small winter sports paradise!
Off to the slopes: This is what the Diehloher mountains have to offer

The main slope is around 220 to 230 meters long. That sounds short, but the club proudly advertises with the motto: “If you learn to ski here, you can ski anywhere”, as the slope can be quite challenging by Brandenburg standards. While you have to climb every hill on foot in Berlin, there is a ski lift here.
There is a separate slope for tobogganists right next to the ski slope so that skiers and tobogganists don’t get in each other’s way. You’ll even find a ski jump that serves as a training center for the next generation.
The best thing about it: the prices are really very moderate. In the 2024/2025 season, half a day cost around 5 euros and a full day only around 10 euros. That’s hard to beat, especially in comparison with alpine ski resorts.
But: the weather has to play along

The Diehlo mountains do not have snow cannons. This means that the resort is only open when the weather is suitable. Pure nature is more sustainable, but the lift is therefore not always accessible. Be sure to check the MSV Diehloer Berge website before setting off.
But even without snow, there is plenty going on here. In summer, the club runs a FourCross trail there, which is one of the best in the region – a paradise for mountain bikers.
So don’texpect an Alpine panorama, but for a spontaneous afternoon in the snow, the “Brandenburg Alps alternative” is a great and inexpensive destination with a fantastic view over Eisenhüttenstadt.
