The peak season for roses has arrived, and with it come numerous highlights centered around the queen of flowers. From visiting the world’s largest rose collection to attending one of Germany’s most significant rose festivals, there is currently plenty for rose enthusiasts to discover. A special highlight is the Rose Garden Festival in the East German Rose Garden in Forst, taking place from June 12 to 14, 2026 . The park, which is more than 110 years old, was named Germany’s most beautiful park in 2009 and, with over 1,000 varieties of roses, offers the perfect setting for one of the country’s largest rose festivals.

The historic park was opened in 1913 and today covers an area of approximately 17 hectares. With more than 1,000 varieties of roses and tens of thousands of rose bushes, the Rosengarten is one of Germany’s most significant rose gardens. In 2009, the park was even voted Germany’s most beautiful park.
During the three-day Rosengarten Festival, an extensive program of music, garden art, culinary delights, and entertainment awaits you. Concerts, cultural events, and shows will take place on several stages. The program is complemented by a cut-rose show, garden music, arts and crafts, street theater, and numerous food stands.
Musical highlights of the 2026 Rosengartenfesttage include performances by Tom Gaebel, Tim Bendzko, and Olaf Berger. Additional artists are also on the program. Tim Bendzko’s performance on Saturday evening is considered one of the weekend’s highlights.

A special experience is the so-called “Night of 1,000 Lights,” which traditionally takes place on Saturday evening. During this event, the park’s paths, rose beds, water features, and historic structures are elaborately illuminated. Thousands of lights bathe the entire grounds in a romantic atmosphere, while a music-laser show and live music add to the festive mood.
Families will also find plenty to enjoy at the Rosengartenfesttage. Numerous hands-on activities and entertainment options are organized for children. In addition, the expansive park grounds, water features, pergolas, and rose gardens invite visitors to spend a relaxing day surrounded by nature.
The Rose Garden Festival has a long tradition in Forst. Since 1988, the Forst Rose Queen has been crowned as part of the festival . She represents the city and the rose garden at numerous events in the region and beyond.
