Wooden Adventures for Families at the Plänterwald Forest Playground in Berlin
As soon as you enter the forest, the kids’ eyes will light up immediately. Instead of the usual plastic structures, you’ll find a large, lovingly designed collection of wooden play equipment at the Plänterwald Forest Playground.
Kids can come up with all kinds of fun role-playing games here! A fantastic wooden tractor, an exciting ship, and a cool locomotive invite little explorers to embark on a journey of imagination. The play equipment blends seamlessly into the green surroundings.
Climbing, running around, and enjoying a relaxed picnic
But the playground has much more to offer than just vehicles. There’s a varied climbing course that really challenges brave little climbers. The thick tree trunks and carved wooden animals are perfect for balancing and gymnastics.
Since the playground is located in the middle of a dense forest, the tall tree canopies provide shade for you parents on hot summer days. Be sure to bring a thick blanket and a well-stocked picnic backpack—there’s no snack bar in the park itself!

Here’s how to get to the Plänterwald Forest Playground
🚇 Take the S-Bahn (S8, S85, or S9) to the Plänterwald S-Bahn station. Alternatively, you can take buses 165, 170, or 265 to the Baumschulenstraße/Köpenicker Landstraße stop. From either station, it’s just a short walk through the forest.
🚗 If you’d rather drive there, please keep in mind that there are no designated parking spots directly in the forest area. It’s best to park near Dammweg or on the surrounding residential streets and walk the last few meters.
