Even a quick Google search shows: Good Mexican restaurants in Berlin are a topic that divides opinion! While some are looking for authentic experiences, others miss their usual expectations of Tex-Mex food. Some miss the typical spiciness that comes with Mexican food, while others found the raw onion too strong. At the same time, many are annoyed by the supposedly high prices after spending just 10 euros on their dinner in Mexico – without considering the high import costs of authentic ingredients. As you can see, you can’t really make anyone happy here! But we try our best and, after a long search, we ended up in a reddit thread from which four promising restaurants have crystallized.
1st Taqueria Santa Maria
One of the most authentic taquerias in the city should definitely not be missing from your list. Taqueria Santa Maria is known for its handmade tortillas, quesadillas and changing daily tacos. This place is also ideal for vegetarians and vegans. Thanks to daily happy hour deals, you can also treat yourself to margaritas and other cocktails – all in a lively atmosphere with a real Mexican flair.
2nd El Oso
Our first recommendation is the taqueria in the Pfefferberg market hall. It is located right on Schönhauser Allee and offers just about everything a foodie’s heart desires on 700 square meters! Including excellent tacos and occasional daily specials, such as Mexican-style pulled pork from wild boar. But don’t worry: the restaurant also caters for vegetarians and vegans!

3rd Maria Bonita
This small taqueria is located right in the heart of Berlin, not far from the famous Mauerpark. Since 2009, you can find a large selection of traditional, home-made street food here. In their own words, the aim here is to “serve a variety of flavors of Mexican cuisine to every guest in a colorful atmosphere.” The Taqueria also does not accept reservations, so it’s first come, first served!

4th Taqueria El Amigo
This taqueria in Mitte promisesthe real taste of Mexico! Here, too, the focus is on authentic tacos prepared according to a traditional family recipe. The restaurant also offers catering for events – so how about a taco night for your next birthday party?

5th Tulum
Our last recommendation is located right next to Volkspark Friedrichshain, so you can stretch your legs a little after your meal! At Tulum, you can expect lots of traditional Mexican specialties as well as individual dishes from other cuisines at fair prices! Thirst-quenching cocktails are also very reasonably priced – especially if you stop by during the slightly extended happy hour. This is on Fridays and Saturdays from 8 pm to 1 am and on the other days of the week from 6 pm to 11 pm. Enjoy yourselves!
