With just one glance at the Berlin map, it quickly becomes clear that the capital is spun into a rather complex road network: Long road runs lead from all possible directions to the outskirts of Berlin. From here, an ingenious system leads to Berlin’scity center – as far as it can be officially identified at all. But which street in Berlin is actually the longest?
The Landsberger Allee is the undisputed winner of the gold medal. It runs for just over 12 kilometers from Marzahn towards the heart of Berlin and ends just before it at Platz der Vereinten Nationen. It links four districts at once: Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, Pankow, Lichtenberg and Marzahn-Hellersdorf.
It is also one of the most important traffic arteries, as it also crosses a number of other main roads and thus helps to efficiently connect Berlin and at the same time offers a quick way out of the city to reach the brandenburg’s most beautiful lakes to throw in the towel. In addition to her role as a networker, she also has a dangerous dark side: Traffic initiatives classify it as the “most murderous road” in the capital, partly because its route invites speeding. So keep your eyes peeled for anyone who wants to run Berlin’s longest route!
Disqualified
At this point, we have to row back a little: Eagle-eyed people will quickly notice that the longest street in Berlin is actually Adlergestell.
With a length of 13 kilometers, it only just overtakes Landsberger Allee. Nevertheless, we didn’t shortlist the old Försterweg, as it runs exclusively through the outskirts of Berlin and offers no view of the urban jungle through the trees.
