When you hear “Berlin”, you often immediately think of music, clubs and nightlife – and for good reason. Sure, our city is also a paradise for gastronomy, art, sports and shopping, but what really makes it stand out internationally is the music. Unsurprisingly, a new study shows that the German capital is number one when it comes to live music events, leaving metropolises such as London, Paris, Amsterdam and Vienna behind.
Every genre is represented in Berlin – from pop to Latin to rock, with techno of course leading the pack! Techno fans feel like they’re in heaven here when you think of legendary clubs like Berghain and KitKat, which are notoriously anything but easy to get into. The most famous DJs play in Berlin and up-and-coming talents dream of performing here. The venues for music events in Berlin are also unbeatable thanks to its impressive infrastructure – with locations such as the Mercedes-Benz Arena, Waldbühne, Arena Berlin and Berghain, where international stars take to the stage.
Taking these aspects into account – the number of concerts, global search queries and event ratings – the Accor study reveals a clear winner: Berlin! Around 1,161 concerts are planned here, there are 365,630 global searches for live music events every month, and the venue rating is 4.56. This results in an impressive overall score of 88.2. Absolutely deserved, we’d say!
But it’s not just our capital that is represented on this list – three other German cities also make it into the top 15! The beautiful Hanseatic city of Hamburg is in sixth place, Munich is in ninth place and the business metropolis of Frankfurt is in 13th place. So the German music sky looks pretty promising in 2025, doesn’t it? We can’t wait to see what else surprises us!
