Berlin offers enough activities all year round to brighten up our lives. In winter, the offer is not as limited as it seems with all the gray weather. One of the most popular activities in cold weather is ice skating. There are unique places for winter sports in the middle of the city, but if you want to combine ice skating with a little excursion, we have a special tip for you: visit the Snowtropolis ice rink.
Once upon a time: from indoor ski hall to adventure resort

Snowtropolis in Senftenberg is about an hour and a half’s drive from Berlin. It was once known as an indoor ski slope. But that has changed in recent years: Due to the enormous rise in energy costs, classic skiing on the approximately 130-metre-long slope has been severely restricted and has now been discontinued altogether. We can still go skiing in other places around Berlin!
The Snowtropolis ice rink is now used for ice skating and has been transformed into a versatile adventure resort. During the winter season, you can expect a spacious ice rink that is ideal for ice skating or a game of ice hockey. You can hire skates on site and explore the world of ice sports on the huge rink.
The ice rink is open from November to March. By the way, you don’t need a reservation – just drop by and go straight away!
More than ice sports: Alpine feeling near Berlin

And if you need a break after all that sporting activity, this is also the place to be. With its rustic ambience, the Snowtropolis ice rink creates the perfect mountain hut atmosphere and offers typical Alpine cuisine. In the “Heiße Kufe”, the in-house restaurant, you can warm up in front of the open fire.
Even if you don’t want to go ice skating yourself, you are welcome at Snowtropolis. You can also simply visit the “Heiße Kufe” and enjoy food and drinks there. You will then even get your visitor ticket back.
