Sometimes we just want to leave the monotony of everyday life behind and immerse ourselves in more imaginative, adventurous worlds. Fortunately, this is also possible in Berlin, whether in the new Stranger Things Escape Room or at modern digital art exhibitions. For a few hours, you can switch off and forget everything around you. But as soon as the experience is over, you’re back outside and everyday life catches up with you. If you really want to feel like you’ve completely escaped and experience something new at the weekend, then it’s worth traveling a little further afield. There are many possibilities, it all depends on your taste. Do you prefer mysterious magical worlds and love the most famous films from Warner Bros.? Then you should visit the only Harry Potter exhibition currently in Germany. Or is that not quite your thing and your heart beats for the Wild West? Then the El Dorado Templin theme park, a detailed Western town near Templin in the Uckermark, about 70 kilometers north of Berlin, is the perfect destination for you.

The theme park covers around seven hectares and is usually open from April to October. El Dorado was designed as an authentic 19th-century Wild West town – with a saloon, main street, fort, and numerous other buildings typical of the West. Visitors can slip into authentic clothing and be transported back in time for a few hours. The varied program of events includes action-packed stunt shows with cowboys and performers, some of which are produced in collaboration with professionals from the Babelsberg film studio. There are also Native American shows, which showcase the dances, songs, and stories of the indigenous peoples of North America. Various special events also take place throughout the season, including Native American gatherings, US car meets, line dancing events, and Halloween weeks.

In addition to the shows, there are numerous hands-on activities: gold panning and the “Mining Adventure, “ archery, axe throwing, lasso workshops, and bull riding on a mechanical bull. There are also stagecoach rides through the park, a petting zoo, pony rides, and many other attractions that are especially popular with families. The Western flair is also reflected in the cuisine: the park offers a variety of 19th-century-style dining options, including a saloon and several snack stands. The park also features shops and a photo studio where you can have your picture taken in an authentic Western look.
If you want to prolong the experience, you can stay overnight on site – in the Western hotel on Main Street, in ranch houses by the lake, or in teepees and fort accommodations. This makes El Dorado ideal for family outings, group trips, or a themed short break.
Westernpark El Dorado Templin will start the new season on March 28, 2026. A large line dancing event will take place on March 13 and 14, 2026.
