It’s no secret that Berlin has a diverse culinary scene —and Asian cuisine is certainly not neglected here. From a Korean all-you-can-eat brunch for just 22.50 euros to the city’s first Michelin-listed ramen restaurant. There’s something for every taste. To make your choice even more exciting, there’s now a new hotspot: ChuWoo is currently one of the most interesting new openings in Berlin-Mitte. Located right next to the Märkisches Museum, it’s aimed primarily at anyone looking for authentic Chinese cuisine with a modern twist.

ChuWoo focuses on a cuisine that has hardly been widely represented in Berlin until now: Shanghai-inspired comfort food classics, reinterpreted with a modern twist. Specifically, this means homemade, hand-pulled noodles, freshly prepared dim sum, and light, aromatic street food dishes —combined with an aesthetic, almost dessert-café-like approach. ChuWoo deliberately does not see itself as a classic Chinese restaurant, but rather as a curated, urban food concept where quality, clarity, and presentation take center stage.
The menu is intentionally compact but precisely curated. Highlights include wonton in chili oil— spicy, slightly hot, and heavily inspired by typical Shanghai street food. The tofu salad brings a fresh, light element to the table and provides a balanced contrast to the more intense dishes. Also worth highlighting is the bao bun with pork belly, which impresses with its soft texture and the combination of braised radish—a pairing that is currently very trendy in China and Taiwan.

What makes ChuWoo special is its clear focus on Asian desserts and tea culture. The menu features, among other things, a jasmine cake, a strawberry Basque cheesecake, and steamed pumpkin with osmanthus and honey. These are served with classic teas such as jasmine green tea or peach oolong. The result is a concept that feels like a stylish blend of an “Asian dessert café” and a modern noodle bar .
Price-wise, ChuWoo falls into the mid-range segment: smaller dishes cost between five and eight euros, main courses around 13 to 14 euros, and desserts between five and seven euros. For Berlin-Mitte, this is a fair price point that reflects the quality and curated standards of the concept. Overall, ChuWoo positions itself more in the “casual upscale street food” category than in the classic budget segment.
