Are you fans of theme parks and thrilling roller coasters? Fortunately, there are several great destinations near Berlin. And it’s not just about high-speed rides: From parks with over 100 dinosaur figures in the prehistoric zone to colorful LEGO paradises right in the heart of the city, there’s something for everyone, young and old alike. One of the largest and best-known destinations in the Berlin area is Karls Erlebnis-Dorf —and that’s exactly where a brand-new highlight will soon be waiting for you. At Karls Erlebnis-Dorf in Elstal near Berlin, a new family roller coaster called “Bettys Beerchen Boomerang” is currently under construction, and an exciting 24-hour social media campaign is planned to coincide with its opening.

The new attraction is 27 meters high and features a track approximately 230 meters long. During the ride, speeds of up to 60 kilometers per hour are reached . An identical roller coaster was already opened on July 4, 2026, at the Karls location in Döbeln . What makes this roller coaster special is its so-called boomerang principle. Unlike a classic roller coaster, the track does not follow a closed loop. Instead, riders first travel in one direction along the track and then back again. This allows them to experience the track both forward and backward. A complete ride lasts about 66 seconds. During the ride, passengers may experience forces of up to 2.7 G.
Karls is also staying true to its well-known strawberry theme in the design. The roller coaster cars resemble large strawberry bowls or baskets. The station will also be designed accordingly and is intended to look like a giant strawberry basket or strawberry stand . The structure is expected to reach a height of about eleven meters.

Even more extraordinary than the new roller coaster itself is the event that Karls founder Robert Dahl is planning for the grand opening. On October 16, 2026, at 11 a.m.—one day before the official opening—he plans to board “Bettys Beerchen Boomerang” and ride the roller coaster for 24 hours straight. The challenge won’t end until the following day. What makes this particularly extreme is that only five minutes of rest are scheduled per hour . Dahl himself apparently finds it difficult to predict how his body will react to this extraordinary strain.
Robert Dahl doesn’t want to take on the 24-hour challenge alone. Nine influencers or content creators will join him in taking on the challenge. Apparently, having a particularly large following isn’t a prerequisite. Dahl explained that smaller content creators sometimes have a much more active community than accounts with very high follower counts. The most important thing, he said, is that participants can mobilize their community to support the fundraiser.
The opening of the new roller coaster will also mark the start of an extraordinary 24-hour social media challenge. Following the 24-hour challenge, “Bettys Beerchen Boomerang” is set to officially open to all visitors on October 17, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. The extreme ride by Robert Dahl and the content creators thus serves, in a sense, as a kickoff for the new attraction.
