Spending your free time in Berlin is anything but boring. No matter what season or month you’re looking for activities—there’s always something to suit every taste. New venues are constantly opening and fresh events are launching, such as the recent rave experience in an indoor forest of lights where art installations and techno music come together. But the city also has impressive offerings for those who want to burn off some energy with sports. Climbing enthusiasts don’t even have to leave Berlin for this: right in the heart of the city, they can climb up to 25 meters high. BergWerk.Berlin in the Marzahn-Hellersdorf district, located in the “Helle Mitte” shopping center, is Europe’s largest indoor high ropes course.

The concept of BergWerk Berlin is more reminiscent of an aerial adventure park than a traditional climbing gym. The facility is fully covered and can therefore be used in any weather. It is often referred to as Europe’s largest indoor climbing park, as it reaches a height of up to 25 meters and offers over 100 different climbing elements and obstacles . Several courses on different levels span an area of several thousand square meters. This creates not a typical climbing gym experience, but rather a vertical adventure playground.
Various areas await you on site—from easy routes to real adrenaline-pumping courses. The “Gipfelstürmer” is the main course and is suitable for all skill levels, while the “Alpinista,” a via ferrata, is significantly more challenging and reminiscent of real mountain hikes. For children, there are separate junior and mini courses accessible starting at around three years old. A special highlight is the so-called “Free Fall,” where you jump from a height of about 12 meters. Additionally, a roughly 40-meter-long zip line that runs right through the building provides an intense adrenaline rush.
In total, there are around ten to fourteen different courses with over 70 to 100 obstacles . A visit usually takes about two to two and a half hours. Depending on the course, the minimum height requirement is approximately 1.10 to 1.30 meters.

BergWerk is aimed at beginners with no climbing experience as well as families, children, and groups. It’s also a popular spot for team events. The focus here is less on classic technical climbing, as in bouldering, and more on the experience, the fun, and the adrenaline rush. Before you start, you’ll receive a detailed briefing and the necessary equipment, including a harness and helmet. Thanks to a modern belay system, you’re secured throughout the entire course. Afterward, you can explore the various routes on your own, which makes getting started particularly easy.
Prices range from about 28 to 29 euros for roughly two and a half hours of climbing . Additional attractions, such as the free fall, may incur a small surcharge.
