New openings and closures—in Berlin, both are part of everyday life. From exciting new arrivals to regrettable goodbyes , the capital is constantly on the move. While you’ll be able to welcome the famous Los Angeles-based sportswear brand Alo Yoga to the city center as early as next week, we’ll have to say goodbye to a true fan favorite later this month. The M&M’S Store at Kurfürstendamm 13–15 will close permanently on October 31, 2026. Mars has confirmed the decision and explained that it was made as part of a regular review of business operations.

Employees have already been informed of the upcoming closure. The company has not yet publicly disclosed specific economic reasons or details regarding sales trends at the Berlin location. This brings the Berlin M&M’S adventure to an end almost exactly five years after it began. The flagship store opened its doors on October 2, 2021, and at that time was only the seventh M&M’S store worldwide. It was also the first M&M’S store in continental Europe, bringing the concept to a continental European metropolis for the first time.
With an area of around 3,000 square meters spread across three floors, the Berlin location was anything but an ordinary candy store. At its opening, Mars described it as a veritable “chocolate wonderland.” According to the Lebensmittel Zeitung, it was even the world’s largest M&M’S store at the time of its opening. Inside, everything revolved around the colorful chocolate candies and the brand’s universe. Among the highlights was the so-called “Wall of Chocolate, ” where visitors could create their own M&M’S mix. In addition, M&M’S could be personalized and printed with custom designs. There were also larger-than-life M&M’S figures, numerous merchandise items, and products tailored specifically to Berlin.

The capital city also played a major role in the store’s design. Among other things, the store featured a replica of a Berlin subway car, an M&M’S “Späti,” as well as street art elements and other installations inspired by Berlin culture. The location also included a private rooftop terrace with a view of the city. Another unique feature was located on the second floor: the world’s first M&M’S Café opened there. It offered drinks, cookies, and ice cream, among other items, and visitors could even create their own ice cream combinations. However, the café had already closed before the entire store’s final closure.
Other areas of the approximately 3,000-square-meter store are also no longer fully accessible a few weeks before it closes for good. The remaining store is currently open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and closed on Sundays. The specific reasons why Mars is closing its Berlin flagship store after only five years are not yet known in detail. The company merely cites a routine review of its business operations. It has not been confirmed whether, for example, economic factors, the costs of the large location, or visitor numbers played a role.
