Sporty, stylish, and ready for street style: Fashion fans were able to browse one of Germany’s largest antique and design markets just last weekend, but the next highlight is already on the horizon. A brand that has made a name for itself worldwide with its modern sports and lifestyle fashion—and whose pieces have so far been available in Germany primarily online —is now coming to Germany for the first time with its own store. That’s all changing now in the capital: Alo Yoga has confirmed October 16 at 10 a.m. as its “Grand Opening Day.” The new store is located at Münzstraße 21–23 in Berlin-Mitte, not far from Alexanderplatz and the Hackesche Höfe.

The space previously housed a showroom for the automaker Lynk & Co. The announced activities scheduled for October 16 and 17 will turn this into a full opening weekend. Even before the actual opening, Alo is getting the capital city excited about its launch in Germany. On October 3, the brand hosted a 5-kilometer run through Berlin that started and ended at the new store. The event was fully booked, and by the end, only a waiting list remained.
The opening is more than just the debut of yet another sportswear brand in the capital. Berlin marks the start of Alo Yoga’s brick-and-mortar expansion in Germany. The brand, founded in Los Angeles in 2007, plans to open additional stores in Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Cologne, and Munich. Alo is specifically targeting prominent shopping streets and high-end downtown locations. Planned locations for additional German stores include Königsallee in Düsseldorf, Neuer Wall in Hamburg, and Maximilianstraße in Munich. The expansion into Germany, in turn, is part of the U.S. brand’s broader international growth strategy.

Alo Yoga started out primarily with yoga and activewear, but has since positioned itself as a premium wellness and lifestyle brand. In addition to leggings, sports bras, and tops, the collection also includes sweatshirts, jackets, loungewear, shoes, bags, yoga equipment, and beauty and wellness products. Incidentally, the name ALO is derived from “Air, Land, Ocean.” Under the “Studio to Street” concept , the pieces are designed not only to be worn during yoga, Pilates, or at the gym, but also to work just as well in everyday life. The brand’s celebrity presence has also played a significant role in its international popularity. Stars such as Taylor Swift, Hailey Bieber, and Bella Hadid have already been spotted wearing Alo outfits.
