Berlin is getting ready for the spookiest time of the year —but instead of the usual Halloween parties with fake blood, mandatory costumes, and thumping bass, a very special experience awaits in the heart of Schöneberg.
In October, the historic Apostel-Paulus-Kirche will feature eerily beautiful melodies paired with an incomparable, mystical atmosphere, promising you an unforgettable Halloween celebration.

Apostel-Paulus-Kirche
130-Year-Old Brick Gothic in the Heart of Schöneberg
The Apostle Paul Church was built between 1892 and 1894 based on designs by the renowned architect Franz Schwechten—the same creative mind who also designed the world-famous Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church.
As an outstanding example of Neo-Gothic architecture, the striking red-brick building not only dominates the streetscape in the popular Akazienkiez neighborhood but also captivates visitors above all with its fascinating interior. High pointed arches, ornate rose windows, and the expansive vaulted ceilings lend the space a sublime and, at the same time, mystical atmosphere.
Especially after dark, when the sparse lighting casts long shadows over the historic architectural details, the church takes on an almost magical, slightly eerie presence—perfect for Halloween.
But the building is not just a visual gem. The church’s acoustics are also top-notch: the special vaulted structures carry every note crystal-clear and resonant all the way to the back row. This makes concert experiences at this Berlin venue so intense that they literally get under your skin.

Symphony of Shadows: Grotesquely Good and Eerily Entertaining
The program for Candlelight’s Halloween concert consists of a handpicked mix of classical masterpieces, iconic film scores, and pop culture anthems that are sure to give you goosebumps.
From Michael Jackson’s legendary “Thriller” to the rock-infused hit from “Ghostbusters,” all the way to the eerie sounds of “The Exorcist” or Danny Elfman’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” Even pieces like Bach’s “Toccata and Fugue in D Minor” or Chopin’s “Funeral March” take on a completely new, captivating power beneath the church’s massive vaults.
The musical pieces are brought to life by a talented string quartet amidst numerous flickering candles, bringing the somber soundscapes to life with particular intensity.
