Mitarbeiter:innen eines Berliner Grünflächenamtes gaben am Dienstag bekannt, dass sie den toten Körper einer vier Meter langen Schlange in der Hasenheide im südlichen Bezirk Neukölln geborgen haben.
Die leblose Schlange, die zunächst als Python identifiziert wurde, wurde unter einem Baum im Park gefunden, teilte das Bezirksamt Berlin-Neukölln am Dienstag mit.
Python in der Hasenheide – Was bisher bekannt ist
Es war nicht sofort klar, ob die Schlange zum Zeitpunkt ihres Auffindens bereits tot war. Das Bezirksamt Neukölln erklärte jedoch, dass sie „stark unterernährt“ war und dass sie, falls sie noch lebte, angesichts der kalten Temperaturen zu diesem Zeitpunkt „kaum aktiv oder bewegungsfähig“ gewesen wäre. Die Behörden erklärten, dass eine Autopsie durchgeführt wurde, um die genaue Art zu bestimmen und sowohl Geschlecht als auch die Todesursache zu ermitteln. Außerdem soll geklärt werden, ob das Tier bereits tot war, als es in den Park geworfen wurde.
Der Körper der Schlange wurde am Montag von Mitarbeiter:innen der Parkverwaltung gefunden. „Wir sind im Bezirk ja einiges gewohnt, aber so etwas hatten wir noch nie: Gestern haben unsere Mitarbeiter in der Hasenheide einen 4 Meter langen toten indischen Python entdeckt. Unsere Amtstierärzte untersuchen nun die genauen Umstände“, teilte das Bezirksamt in den sozialen Medien mit. Es beschrieb indische Pythons als „eher zurückhaltend und scheu“. Es wies jedoch darauf hin, dass die Haltung von Pythons als Haustiere aufgrund ihrer Länge von mehr als 2 Metern eine Genehmigung der Veterinärbehörde erfordert.
Aufruf an die Öffentlichkeit
Erste Kommentare ließen vermuten, dass die Beamten die Möglichkeit eines illegal gehaltenen exotischen Tieres in Betracht zogen, das nach seinem Tod im Park entsorgt worden sein könnte. Die Behörde erklärte, dass ihr keine Genehmigungen für die Haltung von Pythons im Bezirk bekannt seien. Es fügte hinzu, dass es auch keine Fahndungsmeldungen über entlaufene Tiere gebe, die mit der wiedergefundenen Schlange übereinstimmen würden.
Die Behörde rief die Öffentlichkeit dazu auf, sich per E-Mail zu melden, wenn sie Informationen über den Python hat, und stellte dabei insbesondere zwei Fragen: „Wer hat Hinweise auf eine möglicherweise unerlaubte Haltung eines solchen Tieres in Neukölln oder angrenzenden Bezirken? Wer hat [die Schlange] in den letzten Tagen in der Hasenheide beobachtet?“
