On Friday and Saturday (July 24 and 25), the Water Lantern Festival transformed the large lake in Britzer Garten into a magical sea of lights. Hundreds of floating water lanterns created an incomparable atmosphere at this cultural event.
From Asia to the U.S. to Berlin: The Award-Winning Water Lantern Festival

Inspired by Thai traditions such as Loi Krathong , this festival brings people together to reflect on their wishes, hopes, and dreams. So it’s no wonder that a version of this event was voted the best cultural festival in the U.S.
As dusk falls, hundreds of water lanterns glide gently across the water, creating a magical atmosphere. You can personalize your own lanterns, set them afloat on the lake together with others, and create a sea of lights.
Over two days , the festival in Berlin delighted visitors with food trucks offering delicious regional specialties and live acoustic music that perfectly complemented the special ambiance.
The Perfect Setting: Britzer Garten
This impressive park in the heart of Berlin provided the ideal setting for the spectacle. The Britzer Garten is a green oasis in the middle of the city that delights visitors with its expansive lakes, rolling hills, and vibrant seas of flowers.
It’s definitely worth exploring this wonderful garden anyway! A little tip: Europe’s largest sundial is also located here. Feel free to stop by!
