We followed in the footsteps of Tim Burton and visited the Labyrinth in Berlin! The attraction opened at the end of July this year and is open until November 3. You can find the interactive exhibition in the Radsetzerei – doesn’t sound like a familiar place at first, but you can easily find the location at the eastern end of the RAW site. From the ticket office, you pass through a series of curtains into the entrance area, where a few rules are first clarified. We then encounter the first of Tim Burton’s creations: a giant mouth that acts as a gateway into the labyrinth.
The path through Tim Burton’s labyrinth is a bizarre course
We start in a room with nothing but numbered doors and a red hot button. We now have to press this to see which door fate wants to send us behind.
From here, we enter the rooms where we are presented with characters from Tim Burton’s mysterious worlds as well as sketches and information about the artist – all in the typical setting we are used to from Burton. Of course, we don’t want to spoil the rooms and their contents for you; what we can say is this: The path through the labyrinth leads you through numerous rooms, not all of which you can visit in one run. This is because you only ever go straight ahead, through the next numbered door, and not back into other adjoining rooms. This makes the labyrinth even more mysterious, as you never know what lies in the other rooms behind you. Two passages are therefore particularly worthwhile for explorers who have a little time on their hands.
Overall, the exhibition is very successful and gave us exciting insights into the work of Tim Burton. At the same time, you can take a few photos with life-size figures of his creations along the way. At the end of the exhibition you will find a store where you can buy prints, accessories and curiosities. We really enjoyed the immersive exhibition and can highly recommend it to all friends of the artist or dark aesthetics!
