When dandelions break through the asphalt in spring , many Berliners feel a longing for nature and a slower pace of life. And for those without a car, we recommend a trip to the S1’s final stop. From there, you can take the bus directly to the historic village center of Lübars: there, time seems to stand still.
Lübars is Berlin’s oldest village and brims with charm
A stroll through the history of Lübars

In the historic village center, a blend of Markish tranquility and vibrant tradition awaits you, making Lübars a special place of longing.
The village is classically dominated by the Baroque village church, a simple building from the late 18th century. Stroll along the cobblestone paths, past the old schoolhouse and the lovingly restored three-sided farmstead, which tell the story of the village’s rural past.
At the Alter Dorfkrug, you can grab a bite to eat from Wednesday through Sunday until 9:00 p.m. Right next door is the LabSaal. Here, the village community organizes concerts and dance evenings that foster a lively neighborhood atmosphere.
From clay pit to swimming lake + beach!

In Lübars, too, cooling off and a leisurely vibe are a must. Stop by Ziegeleisee and take a dip in the water. Afterward, treat yourself to some delicious ice cream or a serving of fries at the beach restaurant!
Did you know: The Red Town Hall was built from clay taken from the lake! It was originally a clay pit and today boasts top-notch water quality!
The Alte Fasanerie in Lübars: Perfect for a family day trip

The Alte Fasanerie is a great destination, especially for families. During the days of the Berlin Wall, West Berlin children were allowed to experience country life here. Today, children can look at animals ( alpacas, guinea pigs, chickens, pheasants, and horses), do crafts, and learn on the grounds. The Alte Fasanerie is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The perfect day trip to Lübars ends in nature

To round off the day, take a stroll around the flat moor meadows toward the Lübars Leisure and Recreation Park. Along the way, you can visit the Osterquelle ( Marienquelle): Berlin’s last freely bubbling spring. There , 7 liters of cool water gush from the ground every second!
Perhaps you’ll even venture up the 85-meter-high Lübarser Höhe, from where you’ll have a fantastic panoramic view of the high-rises in the Märkisches Viertel . The perfect transition from beautiful Lübars back to urban Berlin.
