The season of the most beautiful and extraordinary plants is in full swing. All over Berlin and its surroundings, colorful seas of flowers are blooming, spring festivals invite you to linger, and quiet spots like pear orchards or sea buckthorn gardens offer little getaways in nature. It’s all about being outdoors again, taking a deep breath, and experiencing nature in full bloom. This is the perfect time for an event dedicated entirely to the garden: In just a few weeks, one of the region’s largest garden fairs will take place right in your neighborhood. Gartenträume in Hoppegarten offers it all—from rare plants and stylish garden decor to workshops. In 2026, the fair runs from May 29 to 31.

The event takes place at the Hoppegarten Racetrack east of Berlin. Admission costs €9 when purchased online in advance and €10 at the box office. The location alone is a highlight: the historic racetrack, with its old trees and expansive green spaces, creates a relaxed, almost park-like atmosphere.
Gartenträume is less of a traditional fair and more of a blend of lifestyle event, market, and source of inspiration. Visitors can discover a wide variety of plants and flowers—from rare specimens to popular classics. The offerings are complemented by numerous ideas for garden design, including decorations, outdoor furniture, and concepts for patios and balconies. Garden technology and practical tools are also in the spotlight, ranging from irrigation systems to creative DIY solutions. On-site experts will also offer valuable tips for your own garden or balcony. Rounding out the experience are food and market stalls featuring regional products and street food. In total, around 100 exhibitors will present their ideas and products.

Among the special highlights of Gartenträume Hoppegarten are workshops and demonstrations, such as on plant care or proper tree pruning. Visitors can stroll through herb and themed gardens, seek advice from the so-called “plant doctor,” or attend expert talks. Live cooking shows featuring fresh garden produce are also part of the program. Many of the products on display can be purchased right on site—so you don’t just take inspiration home with you, but can put new ideas into practice right away.
A major plus is the atmosphere: The entire event takes place outdoors , so you can stroll through a sprawling, green landscape among booths, flowers, and creative installations. The vibe is relaxed and inspiring—significantly less hectic than at traditional trade shows. Especially when the weather is nice, a visit makes for the perfect weekend getaway.
