Dinner and an overnight stay in a former women’s prison or buying your favorite chocolate in an old pharmacy —Berlin’s dining experiences are truly one-of-a-kind. Places that once served a completely different purpose have now been completely reimagined for modern and extraordinary concepts. And this is exactly what defines a special culinary cultural center in Charlottenburg: DUFTE Berlin is far more than a traditional restaurant or an ordinary food court. The venue describes itself as a “culinary cultural center” and brings together several gastronomic and cultural concepts under one roof across more than 1,000 m² of indoor space .

An example of Berlin Modernism
Under one roof are four distinct kitchens, two bars, a café, a bakery, an art space, and a rotating cultural program. There’s also an outdoor area with a beer garden. The concept is designed so that guests can stop by at different times of the day—from their first coffee in the morning to lunch and dinner, right through to drinks in the evening.
Dufte is located at Kantstraße 127 in Charlottenburg, between Stuttgarter Platz and Savignyplatz. The building itself is particularly extraordinary. Dufte is located on the ground floor of the historic Kant-Garagenpalast and occupies, among other areas, the space of a former gas station. The historic garage building dates back to the late 1920s and is considered a significant example of Berlin Modernism. Dufte describes the Kant-Garagenpalast as one of the oldest surviving multi-story parking garages in Europe. A distinctive architectural feature is the historic double-helix ramp, which vehicles once used to travel up and down inside the building. Dufte is still relatively new on the Berlin restaurant scene. It opened in late May 2026 .

A Culinary Journey Around the World
Culinary-wise, Dufte relies on several distinct concepts. At Mani in Pasta, it’s all about fresh, handmade pasta prepared à la minute. Abuya – Hummus Culture brings Levantine cuisine to the venue, with a special focus on hummus. Things get a bit more unusual at The Curried Cactus, where Indian and Mexican cuisines collide—culinarily speaking, it’s Mumbai meets Mexico City. TACHO, on the other hand, reinterprets German cuisine in a modern and casual way. These four restaurants are complemented by Domberger Brot-Werk, a Berlin sourdough bakery. According to Dufte, it takes about 24 hours to produce a single slice of bread here.
When it comes to drinks, too, the concept goes beyond that of a typical restaurant bar. Dufte features two distinct bars. The large bar counter has nine taps and serves, among other things, its own house beer. This beer was developed specifically for Dufte and is based on a reinterpretation of a roughly 400-year-old Franconian recipe. It is brewed by the Berlin-based Fürst Wiacek Brewery. In addition, the menu includes Spritz drinks and highballs, among other options. The second bar is called “Wein & Sprit” and offers around 40 selections on its wine list. The beverage selection is tailored to complement the various dishes served in the kitchen.
