Starting January 1, 2027, the Deutschlandticket will cost 66.80 euros per month instead of 63 euros—an increase of 3.80 euros. Those who use it for the entire year will pay a total of 801.60 euros in 2027. That’s about 45.60 euros more than this year. The Germany Ticket Coordination Council made this decision on September 30, 2026. For many Berliners who use it daily to travel on the subway, S-Bahn, tram, bus, and regional trains, this will mean a change in their household budget.

The third price increase since its launch
When it launched in May 2023, the ticket cost 49 euros. At 66.80 euros, it is now about 36 percent higher. Here’s how the price has changed:
- May 2023: 49 euros
- January 2025: 58 euros (+18.4%)
- January 2026: 63 euros (+8.6%)
- January 2027: 66.80 euros (+6.0%)
Job Ticket: What Your Employer Pays
The Deutschlandticket Job is increasing from 59.85 euros to 63.46 euros. The minimum employer subsidy increases to 16.70 euros per person per month. Your out-of-pocket cost is therefore a maximum of 46.76 euros. If your employer pays more than the minimum, your share decreases accordingly. Checking your pay stub or inquiring with the HR department will reveal whether the subsidy will be adjusted at the start of the new year.
According to S-Bahn Berlin, a maximum copayment of 40.08 euros will apply in the future for the “Deutschlandticket” subsidy for students.

S-Bahn Berlin subscription: Approval required
Anyone with a Deutschlandticket subscription through S-Bahn Berlin must actively consent to the price increase. Affected customers will receive an email or a letter at the end of October. Consent must be provided by November 30. Otherwise, the subscription will automatically end on December 31.
Anyone who signed up for the ticket after October 6, 2026, does not need to take any action. Full details on fares and how to respond can be found on the S-Bahn Berlin information page regarding the price adjustment. Anyone who purchased the ticket through another provider should contact that provider to find out how the process works.
Do the math now
With these new figures, you can already start planning your 2027 annual budget. Without a subsidy, the cost comes to 801.60 euros. With a Job-Ticket and the minimum subsidy, you’ll pay no more than 46.76 euros per month, or 561.12 euros per year. The ticket remains valid throughout Germany on local transit, including regional transit. According to S-Bahn Berlin, children ages 0 to 5 ride for free.
