It’s so cold in Berlin that we just want to stay at home. And with the right movies, we can make our time under the covers all the more cozy. But if we do want to get out and make the most of the icy temperatures, there are a few winter activities in Berlin that are particularly worthwhile. Top of the list: curling at Zollpackhof! Berlin-Mitte is the place to be in January if you want to really celebrate the cold. Located directly opposite the Federal Chancellery, the traditional beer garden is transformed into an alpine oasis in winter.
Professional courses in front of a government backdrop

Curling at the Zollpackhof has achieved cult status and is the perfect mix of sporting ambition and sociability. Here you are offered professional artificial ice rinks that work regardless of the weather. This means that even if – at some point – it stops snowing, it still feels like the depths of winter here.
The atmosphere is particularly worthwhile. The tracks are lined with fairy lights and cups of mulled wine are steaming everywhere. You’ll find a mulled wine stand right next to the lift. So you don’t have to walk far to warm up during the game.
Prices and reservations

Reservations are mandatory. The lanes are extremely popular for team events or groups of friends, especially after work. Those who come spontaneously usually miss out. It’s better to check the website beforehand and secure a lane.
Depending on the day of the week and time, a lane costs between 40 and 60 euros per hour. However, if you share it with 8 people, the price is still absolutely reasonable. Curling at Zollpackhof is open until the end of January.
By the way, you can make the most of the winter feeling by visiting the rustic Augustiner Keller after the game. Here, the fireplace is burning and Bavarian-Austrian classics such as Wiener schnitzel, hearty roast pork or homemade Kaiserschmarrn are served. A piece of the Alps in the middle of Berlin.
