After we’ve already introduced you to bars from many districts that you should know, here is the ultimate selection for the whole of Berlin. These nine bars are worth a visit, we promise!
Velvet Bar – Neukölln
The Velvet Bar doesn’t quite live up to its name because you’re actually visiting more of a laboratory here than a simple bar. The owners place a high value on seasonal and regional ingredients, which results in cocktail creations that you won’t find anywhere else in Berlin. No ingredient is too weird to become part of a sophisticated and finely tuned cocktail creation. This results, for example, in drinks with a hearty tomato base, marjoram infusion or with a touch of fig leaves. Not necessarily cheap, but an absolutely unique highlight in the Berlin bar scene!
Ganghoferstraße 1, NeuköllnWax On
This year, the Wax On bar in Berlin was ranked 73rd in the “World’s 100 Best Bars”, making it the first German bar in years to be included in this prestigious list. Without question, it is therefore also on the list of the ten best bars in Berlin! The bar, known for its minimalist cocktails and relaxed atmosphere, is located in the up-and-coming district of Neukölln. Its success comes just a short time after its triumph at the Mixology Bar Awards, where it also won awards. With a mix of innovative drinks and stylish ambience, Wax On attracts both locals and international guests, cementing its reputation as a hotspot in the Berlin bar scene.
Weserstraße 208, NeuköllnBeckett’s Head – Prenzlauer Berg
This bar, which sees itself as a gentlemen’s club, opened back in 2004. Accordingly, you are only admitted here after ringing the bell. The service is extraordinarily courteous, almost atypical for a bar in Berlin! Beckett’s Kopf exclusively serves old-school drinks with recipes from the 1920s and 30s. The interior is upscale yet cozy and is rounded off by heavy red curtains that completely cover the walls of the anteroom. All in all, a very interesting bar that you should definitely visit!
Pappelallee 64, Prenzlauer BergKrass Böser Wolf – Friedrichshain
Our next bar continues the fairytale theme, at least in name. Despite the dangerous-sounding name, a cozy and high-quality bar awaits you here. In addition to classics, you will also find interesting creations with specially created infusions and reductions. All in all, an ideal place to refuel or for an extensive cocktail tasting. Incidentally, the sister bar of Krass Bösen Wolf is the Lamm Bar in Prenzlauer Berg.
Markgrafendamm 36, FriedrichshainHerr Lindemann – Rixdorf
Herr Lindemann is similarly seasonal and regional. The saying “There’s a herb for everything” is taken very seriously here, resulting in exciting drinks based on (medicinal) herbs that you won’t find anywhere else! The atmosphere is very down-to-earth and cozy, with lots of plants and velvet upholstery. Fun fact: The eponymous Mr. Lindemann was the owner of a herb manufactory towards the end of the 19th century, which had to close due to his experiments with psychedelic herbs.
Weichselstraße 44, Neukölln-Rixdorf
