The popular supermarket chain for Arabic products, Azzam, has expanded in Berlin. A new branch opened on January 23, 2026, at Sonnenallee 55 in Neukölln, not far from the Hatun-Sürücü Bridge. After the locations in Spandau and Mitte, this is already the fourth branch of the Arab-Turkish supermarket in the capital. Over the years, the chain has built up a loyal customer base that particularly appreciates the large selection. Many customers report that German supermarkets often only stock numerous products in small package sizes, such as lemons in small nets. The new, large Azzam supermarket, on the other hand, is ideal for extensive shopping and is the largest of its kind in Berlin.

The new Azzam supermarket has a large halal butcher’s counter with fresh meat, including chicken, lamb, and beef, as well as marinated specialties, some of which are cut to order on site. There is also an extensive selection of fresh fruit and vegetables. The focus is on Middle Eastern, Turkish, and Mediterranean products. That’s why you’ll find a particularly wide variety of spices, dates, legumes, and pickled specialties here. You’ll also be impressed by the large baklava and baked goods section with a long counter full of oriental sweets and fresh, delicious baked goods.

But it’s not just food products: cosmetics and personal care products, household items, and imported goods that are otherwise difficult to find are also part of the range. And all this on around 2,000 square meters of retail space. That’s why Azzam is often described as a kind of “Arab mega-supermarket” where families can conveniently do their bulk shopping together. While Neukölln has developed into a hotspot for oriental food markets in recent years, most of its competitors are smaller stores that are not quite as big as traditional supermarkets. The newly opened Azzam store clearly stands out from the crowd.
