Spring is nice and all, but do you sometimes crave the ultimate dose of blossoms, butterflies, and warmth? You have two options: Either escape to Little Italy or put on your tropical outfit and plan a trip to Potsdam.
(However, if you don’t want spring or summer but need the winter world of Westeros , then check this out.)
A jungle paradise just outside Berlin: The Potsdam Biosphere

Just an S7 ride away, the Potsdam Biosphere awaits you. As soon as you step inside the glass hall, the warm, humid tropical air takes your breath away for a second.
More than 20,000 magnificent plant species form a dense canopy of leaves above your heads. To create the perfect rainforest illusion, an artificial thunderstorm with lightning and thunder rolls over visitors’ heads every hour.
Fun fact: Did you know that vanilla is a type of orchid ?
The wildlife is every bit as impressive as the flora

Amid the exotic vegetation, you can spot colorful iguanas, parrots, and tropical frogs. A special highlight for young and old alike is the integrated butterfly house. Hundreds of colorful butterflies flutter freely among the visitors—perfect for a magical photo!
We recommend: Come on a Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. for the feeding of the white-handed tamarins.
But the journey doesn’t end at the water’s surface

The “Aquasphere” takes guests down into the dark depths of the oceans. In a setting modeled after a submarine , you can observe bizarre sea creatures and colorful fish up close. Also there: Marlin and Dory from “Finding Nemo”! (Realistically speaking, probably more like their great-grandchildren.)
The Potsdam Biosphere sees itself as a place of learning

Changing special exhibitions highlight ecological connections and draw attention to the vulnerability of this unique habitat. At the end of the year, there’s a particularly cool activity for kids: they can explore the rainforest at night!
