Louisiana-style crispy chicken is all the rage right now, but we Berliners have had a great spot for it for quite some time. We’re talking about Humble Pie at Reuterstraße 57 in Neukölln. Anyone who works their way through the menu will quickly realize: Everything here is just right.
From food truck to restaurant

The brand isn’t exactly new. Chef Sarah Durante founded Humble Pie in 2015 as a food truck. In 2021, she handed the reins over to Chris Haskins, who toured Germany and Denmark with the truck and later took the plunge into a brick-and-mortar restaurant. Since at least 2024, the small restaurant—with about 20 seats and a fully operational bar—has been located in the Reuterkiez neighborhood. The truck still makes appearances at pop-up events, though.
What will you be served at Humble Pie?

The star of the show is Nashville Hot Chicken: buttermilk-marinated fried chicken, which you can choose from five heat levels, ranging from mild to “Extremely Spicy.” If you’re unsure, it’s best to start with a lower level. The chicken is served as a sandwich in a roll or a buttermilk biscuit, on waffles with honey butter and maple syrup, or as wings. For those who prefer a vegetarian option, there’s a plant-based crispy chicken alternative.
Pair it with mac & cheese, cornbread, coleslaw, or fried cucumbers. A highlight is the cheddar-jalapeño fries with cheese sauce and pickled red onions. Beer is the drink of choice, true to the motto “Hot Chicken, Ice Cold Beer.”
The prices are fair for Berlin. The classic chicken sandwich costs 11.50 euros, and the Buffalo version costs 15 euros. Sides start at 3.50 euros; fried pickles and wedge salad each cost 8 euros. If you’re coming with friends, the combo meals are a good choice: Menu 1, with a sandwich, side, and drink, costs 17 euros, while the “Ultimate Warrior” box—with three main dishes, four sides, and three drinks—costs 52 euros.
It’s open Tuesday through Thursday from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday until 9:30 p.m., and Sunday until 8 p.m.; it’s closed on Mondays. The bottom line: definitely go check it out, but don’t underestimate the spice level. 😉
