The view through the window makes your eyes pause for a moment. When you step inside, you feel as though you’ve stepped right onto the page of a graphic novel. All the walls, tables, chairs, and decorations are painted snow white and feature hand-painted black outlines. As a result, the space in the 2D Café visually loses its depth and appears completely flat.
This place was founded by Xiao Xue Zheng and her partner Andy Nan. The idea originally came from South Korea, where 2D dining concepts have been hugely successful for years. With great attention to detail, the team designed the interior themselves. The effort was definitely worth it, as the café is considered Berlin’s first 2D café.
A black-and-white backdrop meets Korean desserts
Although the interior appears flat, the offerings on the menu are tangible and three-dimensional. The menu features primarily specialties from Korean dessert culture. The absolute favorite on the menu is Korean bingsu. This delicate soft-serve dessert made from shaved ice is served in flavors such as Biscoff Caramel or Oreo.
Also popular are the freshly baked croffles, starting at €6.40. These are a combination of a croissant and a waffle, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. If you like something fruity, try the raspberry or mango varieties.
Unique drink creations at the 2D Café Always Together
In addition to the waffle creations, unique hot and cold beverages offer plenty of variety. Bestsellers include the purple Ube Latte and the creamy, nutty Black Sesame Latte. The menu also features classic matcha drinks and refreshing iced tea.
A visit here can be perfectly combined with a tour of Berlin-Mitte. The venue is centrally located and just a few minutes’ walk from the Hackescher Markt S-Bahn station. Its proximity to the Hackesche Höfe makes it the perfect place to stop by while strolling through the neighborhood.
