It’s the weekend, the sun is shining, and Tempelhofer Feld is already way too crowded? Then grab your inline skates, bikes, or longboards and head to Brandenburg.
Just a stone’s throw from Berlin, the Flaeming-Skate awaits. With its smooth asphalt paths winding through shady pine forests, wide-open fields, and picturesque villages, the route is an absolute dream for all recreational athletes.
(If you’re looking for a different kind of Berlin getaway, check this out!)
Perfect for anyone who loves to get active on wheels!

The secret of the Flaeming-Skate lies in its surface: The paths are consistently 2–3 meters wide, paved with fine-grained asphalt ( 0.5 mm grain size), and almost completely separated from car traffic. Plus, the route is cleaned an average of twice a week!
This makes the route safe and perfect for inline skaters, cyclists, and hand cyclists. Families traveling with strollers or balance bikes will also find plenty to enjoy here, as there is car traffic only on limited sections of the route and no nasty potholes. Still, be careful: people drive fast in some spots here too!
Which route for which skill level?

The entire Flaeming-Skate network spans an impressive 230 kilometers (a record! It is Europe’s longest continuous route of its kind), divided into various signposted loop courses (RK).
👼 Beginners & Families (Chill Mode)
The RK 2 and RK 8 loops, at 12 and 11 kilometers respectively, are the perfect place to start. They are flat, easy to navigate, and relaxed to skate through in a morning or afternoon. Ideal for practicing technique.
🦸Advanced (Sport Mode)
Those who are already in decent shape and can brake safely can tackle the RK 4. Over 43 kilometers, it offers a wonderful mix of nature, idyllic villages, and gentle inclines. Perfect for an active day trip with a picnic in the countryside.
🥷 Pros & Endurance Junkies (Beast Mode)
The ultimate challenge is the Grand Circuit 1 (RK 1). A full 92 kilometers in one go will really put you to the test. Anyone skating this marathon should have solid technical skills and plenty of stamina. You’ll be rewarded with the ultimate sense of flow!
How to get to the Flaeming-Skate

From Berlin Hauptbahnhof or Südkreuz, the Regional Express (RE3 or RE4) takes you directly to Luckenwalde or Jüterbog in just under an hour. When you step off the train, you’re practically already on the trail.
If you’d still rather drive your own car, take the B101 south and, depending on traffic, you’ll reach your destination from southern Berlin in about 45 to 60 minutes.
Parking lots, starting points, and rental stations (for example, here in Luckenwalde) are located directly along the main routes.
