This piano concert is out of this world: Embark on an audiovisual journey through the universe with “Bach in Space”

Where the logic of the cosmos meets the emotion of music

Even though we already know a great deal about the laws of physics and the universe, its vastness remains immeasurable and difficult to comprehend. It is precisely this incomprehensibility that fascinates and moves people of all ages. The same is true of music: its moving sounds are based on a clear mathematical order— a principle that Johann Sebastian Bach perfected like no other. One note flows into the next. As one melody ends, the next one begins in another sound track. There is no standstill. This fluid dynamic is a perfect match for time-lapse footage of rotating star clusters or passing planets.

Bach in Space—a transcendent concert experience

The unique “Bach in Space” concert series combines the timeless music of Johann Sebastian Bach with the infinite vastness of space into an immersive total work of art—a fascinating interplay of sound and the cosmos!

Join us on a journey where renowned pianists Mona Asuka and Danae Dörken perform selected masterpieces live on the piano. When Johann Sebastian Bach’s immortal masterpieces—from the “Italian Concerto” to the“Goldberg Variations” and the “Well-Tempered Clavier” — resound live on the piano , they come to life anew, at times grippingly, at times subtly. At the same time, razor-sharp NASA images of vibrantly colored star nebulae, distant galaxies, and black holes unfold on a giant screen.
