Soul, its history and the show
Soul and jazz are musical cousins, so to speak – both have their roots in African-American gospel and blues and go back to America in the 1950s. What they have in common is a passion for emotional expression, improvisation and storytelling. They are characterized by powerful, emotional voices, rousing, groovy rhythms and universal themes such as love, pain, hope and self-determination. The term “soul” first appeared in the titles of two albums by Ray Charles, one of the pioneers and great artists of this genre: “Soul Brothers” and “Soul Meeting”.
Look forward to an extraordinary evening dedicated entirely to soul. This evening will celebrate the passion, power and deep roots of a genre with an incredibly rich history. And you can be there live!
